Stephanie Gilmore (Aus) had a slow start to her round one heat of the Roxy Pro at Snapper Rocks today. Half way into the heat she was in last place but then found two excellent scoring rides (an 8.73 and an 8.67) to take a commanding win with Rebecca Woods finishing 2nd and Claire Bevilacqua 3rd.

Young 14 year old Hawaiian surfing star Carissa Moore caused the biggest shock of the day by defeating seven time current World Champion Layne Beachley (Aus)in round one of the Roxy Pro at Snapper Rocks in Australia.
