Round Two kicked off the day, with Damien Hobgood, Ben Dunn and Bobby Martinez among the big names to win their matches. However, Martinez, last year's ASP rookie of the year, was upset in the opening match of round three by rookie Roydon Bryson by only .40 points (15.50 to 15.10). Round three also saw Bede Durbidge defeat Pancho Sullivan and Danny Wills take down Chris Ward. Aussies Taj Burrow and Tom Whitaker also advanced, while Dean Morrison was defeated by Leonard Neves.

Ten matches remain in round three with many of the top names from the contest taking to the water, including Kelly Slater, Mick Fanning, the Irons Brothers, Mark Occhilupo and Joel Parkinson.
