Collins, McNamara Take Top Honors at 2007 Billabong XXL Global Big Wave Surfing Awards

Collins won the top honor of Ride of the Year and Tube of the Year, taking home $55,000 in prize money. McNamara took home $30,000 for the Paddle Award and Men's Best Overall Performance Award.
Most of the top big-wave riders in the world were on hand to watch the festivities, including past winners like Brad Gerlach, who handed out the award to Biggest Wave to Greg Long for his 60+ foot wave at Dungeons in South Africa in July 2006. Accepting the award, Long joked that he did actually prepare a statement because his mom and dad would be upset with him otherwise.

Overall, the show was a raucous affair, with wild cheering at almost every opportunity, and amazing video and photos for just about every nominee.
A highlight of the night was the presentation of the Golden Donut Award -- awarded to the biggest wipeout - those on hand or watching the webcast were treated to a reel of a number of vicious wipeouts from across the globe. The winner, Vetea "Poto" David, was not on hand to accept the award, but last year's donut winner was none other than this year's big winner McNamara, proving that next year may just be a good one for Poto.
Those who missed the webcast will be able to watch a presentation on Fuel in May.
