Anastasia Ashley: Revisted

Since she was five, Anastasia Ashley has been in love with the ocean. Into her pre-teen years, she she lived in Hawaii and was competing regularly, finding the podium and getting honors like NSSA National Champion and ASP Triple Crown Rookie of the Year.
After a year off from competiting she's been competing more in 2007, including at last month's US Open of Surfing. She is also scheduled to take part in the East Coast Surfing Championships at Virginia Beach this weekend -- it was an event where she finished second last year -- but she's under the weather and will miss the competition.

She has also kept busy this year by signing with a new sponsor, Airwalk, which will use her to represent the company's Airwalk Footwear in Fall 2007 and Spring 2008 advertising campaigns.
"I couldn't be more excited to represent the Airwalk brand," Ashley said after the signing. "Through this newly formed relationship I hope to continue to be a role model for girls, not just in the surf community, but everywhere."
One of Ashley's other passions is her healthy vegetarian lifestyle, which she has promoted by acting as a spokesperson for PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), which nominated her as the "Sexiest Vegetarian Alive" in 2005.
