“This is my eighth X Games. I’ve been chasing gold forever at this event,” said Burke. “Finally having that gold medal has allowed me to complete my journey.”

Burke edged out two-time defending gold medalist, Grete Eliassen of Salt Lake City, Utah to whom she lost the gold to in a tight battle last year at Winter X Games 10.

“I’m so stoked to get on the podium again here at the X Games,” said 20-year-old Eliassen who was going for a three-peat SuperPipe win. “I haven’t skied a pipe at night since I was ten years old.”

Another young gun on the podium at 20-years old, Park City, Utah skier Jen Hudak rounded out the top three in her third Winter X Games. “This is a long time coming and I’m thrilled,” said Hudak. “To finish third place at the X Games is great.”

When asked how it feels to finally land on top of the podium, Burke smiled towards the excited crowd, “It is absolutely amazing getting gold!”
