Anderson Steals Women's Slopestyle Finals On Penultimate Run At Winter X 12

Jan 28 2008 / Aspen, CO
Buttermilk Mountain was hot on the third day of ESPN Winter X Games 12, as Jamie Anderson started off the day with a come-from-behind victory in Women’s Slopestyle.

The gold medal was her second in as many years in the Women’s Slopestyle event.

After falling on her first run, and trailing behind then-leader Claudia Fliri, Anderson hit the course as the competition’s second-to-last rider.

Anderson busted out a commanding run that included a switchback side 180, a backside 720, and a backside 540. The judges called it 90.66, which bested Fliri’s mark of 86.33.

“On the first run I was really gonna go for it – and I fell at the bottom,” Anderson said.

“So on the second run I just told myself: ‘Hey, I’m here for the fun.’ And it all worked out.”
