Three Beautiful Reasons To Watch The Slopestyle US Open Finals

Mar 15 2007 / Los Angeles, CA Three Beautiful Reasons To Watch The Slopestyle US Open Finals The U.S. Open of Snowboarding will have dozens of athletes from across the world competing for the top spot in halfpipe and slopestyle, along with a big air competition. While many people will be focusing on returning favorites Shaun White and Torah Bright, both competing in the halfpipe, who should be in focus for the Slopestyle competition?

While the following three women may not be favorites coming into Friday's semis and finals (which can be seen here on Lat34.com), they are three beautiful contenders who have made a mark in the world of Slopestyle.

Chanelle is obviously one of the top slopestyle boarders out there with a number of podium finishes in slopestyle and rail jam formats including a 2nd place finish in the Grand Prix Slopestyle at Bachelor in 2005 and a 3rd place finish in the Nikita Chikita Slopestyle at Tahoe. So how about the US Open? How about the X Games? Well, after a top five finish in 2006, Chanelle broke into the top three with a third-place finish in 2007. She is definitely going to be one that Hana Beaman and Jamie Anderson, two of the favorites going into the competition, will be keeping an eye on.

Of our three lovely ladies, tara came closest to the podium at the US Open last year, coming in fourth. She hasn't had much luck at Winter X, failing to make the finals in the last two years but that doesn't mean anything -- as everyone knows, every competition is different. But no matter how she finishes, Tara has something else to fall back on: she's started her own snowboard company, Omatic snowboards.

You'll find Leanne competing in the big events like the X Games but she's just at home making films and riding backcountry. This year, Leanne finished sixth in the Slopestyle finals at Winter X, and failing to make the finals in 2006. She's looking to grow upon that as she hits this year's competition.
