Marie-France Roy ruled the night Thurday as the best and brightest in snowboarding descended on the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas to celebrate The 9th Annual Transworld SNOWboarding Riders' Poll Awards.  Roy's three awards led all winners while Rookie of the Year Austin Smith scored two of his own.

Roy, from the Rome SDS Team, was honored with Rider of the Year, Reader's Choice and with the Video Part of the Year (for "Any Means") and each time she took to the stage to accept her award she was mobbed by Rome riders and friends.

"I know I had fun this year," Roy said while accepting her second award for Reader's Choice, "but I never thought the readers would give a f**k."

Roy's vocal cheering section may have been the highlight of the night, but 19-year-old Smith received a big response for his two wins, including Rookie of the Year and Video Part of the Year (for "We're People Too").  Wolle Nyvelt was honored as Men's Rider of the Year and legend Terje Haakonsen took home Standout of the Year thanks to his record-breaking air achieved last year at The Oakley Arctic Challenge.

Haakonsen didn't attend but did accept his award via a captured video on his laptop and said, "I really appreciate getting this award... it's probably the last one I'll get."

Kevin Pearce, Men's Reader's Choice winner, also missed the event thanks to attending the Inaugural Quiksilver Natural Selection contest in Jackson Hole, Wyoming (editor's note: looks like Pearce was in Austria for the Air & Style, which makes more sense.  But we could have sworn they said Jackson Hole) .  His acceptance message included a dousing by Mason Aguirre.

Spencer O'Brien was the only other rider to win an award on the night -- the first one given out.  She took home Women's Rookie of the Year honors.

Presenters included past winners like Marc Frank Montoya, Hana Beaman, Leanne Pelosi.  Erin Comstock, Heikki Sorsa, Danny Kass and Andreas Wiig also presented while The Dingo hosted the event.  Dingo did his best to lighten up the crown with humor and did get some laughs when he mentioned Shaun White leaving Volcom at the opening of the show.  The move, he said, allowed Volcom to have enough money to buy Electric Eyewear.  White, a two-time winner last year, was not in attendance (nor nominated) this year.

Winners of the Transworld SNOWboarding Riders' Poll Awards are chosen by the pros themselves, with the exception of the Reader's Choice wards, which are picked by readers of the magazine.
