Rice, Anderson Take Slopestyle Titles at US Open
Mar 17 2007 / Stratton, VT
Defending Champ Shaun White Takes Third Travis Rice took the slopestyle title at the 2007 US Open of Snowboarding today, scoring an 86.75 in challenging conditions in Stratton, Vt. Due to the conditions, speed was affected and Rice and second-place finisher Janne Korpi (82.50) were the only riders to score in the 80s. Shaun White, last year's winner, came in third with a 77.00.
On the women's side, Jamie Anderson walked away in first place with a best run of 79.00, with Torah Bright getting a 62.00 for second place. Jenny Jones was third with a 39.50.
The tough conditions are expected to continue into Saturday's halfpipe finals, with new snow overnight expected to slow riders down even more.
