The episode begins with Ryan going to Casey's house. Casey wants to go to the beach with Ryan since conditions are great but Ryan has a meeting with his agent. Then Ryan kind of figures out his schedule and realizes that he's going to be out of town again in just a few days despite Kayla coming back to town after her own two-week trip. On top of that, Casey laments not being able to spend time with his friend. But Ryan doesn't have time to talk -- he has to go his meeting.

Ryan and his super-tall, super-agent Steve Astephen. Over beans and burritos they talk about Ryan's career. It looks like Ryan will be setting up three new businesses (or, more accurately, LLCs -- Limited Liability Corporations) as part of new deals with his sponsors tied with distribution of his products. First up, he signs a deal with Volcom, and others follow. Ryan muses about his future, saying "If I just keep going the way I'm going now... five years from now I could retire." Astephen laughs, but no doubt he was still thinking of the commissions he would be raking in.
After the meeting, the duo (and apparently mom/manager Gretchen) hit Oakley ("I'm 100% committed to Oakley"), Liquid Graphics Clothing (a company manufacturing Sheckler shirts) and etnies shoes. Only the etnies meeting seems to have any deep discussion as Ryan watches as Astephen reels off some of the things Ryan's hoping to do with the company -- and Ryan leaves knowing that he still has a lot to learn.
After the whirlwind set of meetings Ryan stops by Taylor's house. He fills her in on setting up his new businesses and then brings the conversation around to Kayla... Has she heard from her? Well, it turns out she has and that Kayla said hello and that she missed Ryan. This pleases Ryan. When she returns he seems ready to make their relationship official.
Ryan takes some time to skate on the street and test some tricks out. While he hangs out Mitch stops by and they talk about Kayla coming back and Mitch repeats what Casey said earlier -- they'd like to see more of his friend.
But more meetings are in store. This time it's lunch with dad Randy at a Chinese restaurant where Ryan admits he's a little lost in some of the business meetings. Randy, who has several businesses and plenty of experience on that front, offers his help but doesn't push it, telling Ryan he can reach out when he wants.
Ryan decides that one way to work on his concerns is to talk to another athlete who has been in a similar situation about his experience. Who better to hook him up than his agent, who encourages him.
As Ryan leaves for the meeting, bro Shane wants to skate but Ryan can't and Shane is bummed. Then Ryan gets a call from Kayla and he brightens up. She's coming back in two days. They end their call and Ryan talks with his brother who says he hasn't seen him on a skateboard in a long time and that he misses him (am I sensing a trend here?).
So Ryan gets to meet another athlete... Mr. Pink, FMX legend Carey Hart. Hart gives him some advice about looking ahead and focusing on what he wants to do -- be completely into his business or still skateboarding -- because it will affect how he does things now. Ryan seems to appreciate the meet and hearing how someone else has handled the pressure of success.
After his meetings Ryan circles back to see Casey who again says that he hopes that Ryan doesn't work more and that they miss him. Ryan replays his meeting with Carey Hart and says he realizes he doesn't need to know it all right now. Casey takes the opening and convinces Ryan to go to the skate park, where the two of them, along with Shane, Tony and Mitch hang out for the first time in a long time.
The day Ryan has been looking forward to finally arrives -- Kayla comes home. Ryan goes to visit bearing a gift (a purse) and is greeted with multiple hugs. Yep, she likes him, too...

Random Notes from Episode Four - Season Two
- This episodes featured the return of Wahoo's Fish Tacos. Woo-Hoo! I think this is the third time the great establishment has been featured, though Mexican food is by far the favored food of Sheckler and Co. But there was also Chinese and Japanese (Sushi). Very diverse food-wise.
- Oakley and etnies (actually parent company Sole Technology) are very, very close to one another in Lake Forest. And New Era's not too far down the street in Irvine/Lake Forest. I know Sheckler was scheduled to go to New Era around the timeframe of this episode's filming and suspect he may have also stopped there, but maybe that trip got cut. Liquid Graphics is a little further away so it may not have been the second stop. Just like playing around with the timeline.
- The dreaded home movie footage returned this week with a genuinely weird mix. I thought Ryan's flying through the air on the trampoline was strange then I saw him covered in money after being paid for his first commercial. He could probably fill a swimming pool with cash if he wanted to now.
- Whenever I hear someone say "Mind Boggling" all I can think about is Will Ferrell saying "Mind Bottling," lol.
- Damn, Mitch has a huge truck. Looks like he doesn't have any problem with the cash. Or maybe it's the parents. All these kids have nice digs. And Casey looks like he has a huge truck, too. The OC is just like that TV show after all...
- Watching the show on MTV I saw the last segment was called "We Miss You." Yes, I get it: You miss him.
- Last week I put to rest the state of Casey and Taylor's relationship. This week, completely no sighting of the two together. I'm perplexed. When I was in high school I lived with my girlfriend. Not literally, but we spent all our free time together. But then I guess I am weird. Or co-dependent.
- God didn't want me to do this recap. First my DVR got cut off because it was full (Damn you Winter X Games!) then my channel guide said the episode repeated at 12:30 a.m. PT. Yawn. Around 1 a.m. I check it and see Rob and Big jumping around. WHAAAAAA? Turns out some reason MTV changed the sked. In the end MTV saved the day by making the show already available. Sweet. But if I babbled in this recap now you know why. It's pretty late.
See you all next week.
