The latest episode of "Life of Ryan" starts after his disappointing experience at the X Games, as he grapples with his relationship issues.  On one hand, he has to figure out what to do with Julia, the would-be girlfriend who dropped off the radar right before X Games because of something Tony may have or have not said.  On the other, he has to deal with his mom's growing libido as she wants to start dating again.

Ryan tries to talk it out with Casey and Taylor at lunch and he fills them in as to what Tony may have said to set her off.  They can't figure it out so Ryan still has it on his mind as he visits one of his sponsors, Nixon, which has him check out a new watch design and take some promo shots before letting him run wild in the warehouse where he gets stacks of gear.

As far as his mom goes, she lets Shane and Ryan know that she's ready to start dating again.  She has a guy she'd like to go out with -- a moto rider named Bruce.  Ryan and his bro (where's Kane in all this, by the way?) seem to be okay with it but Ryan warns her:  "But if I don't like him, I'm going to let you know."

Still wondering what's up with Julia, Ryan tries to talk with Tony about it and it doesn't go well.  Tony doesn't think he did anything and thinks it's all on Julia.  Ryan wants to hear something different but Tony's not having any of it.

So while he figures out his next step, he watches his mom get all ready for her date.  He meets Bruce, who seems nice (in his words) and then gets to stew some more about Julia, with Taylor coming by to talk with him about it.

When mom gets back from her date Shane and Ryan are waiting and they give him the thumbs up.  Bruce helps his cause by sending her flowers the next morning, too.

Finally, Ryan has it out with Julia.  It seems the issue comes down to Ryan's friends.  It seems she doesn't want to hang around with them and he doesn't want to change how he is with his friends.  We hear one side of his phone conversation but it doesn't sound like it goes well, especially after she hangs up on Ryan.  He gets home and vents to mom and Parker, before deciding that she's too much drama -- just as Tony predicted.

"I'm ending it.  I'm over it.  It's done." he says.

Ryan finally goes see Julia in person, where she seems pretty cold and evasive when he tries to talk with her.  She doesn't want to talk about Tony and what happened and when she does it doesn't seem straight.  Finally Ryan just says that it's not going to work and they split.  he goes to tell Tony he was right and the show ends as he and his friends hang out on the beach.  Ryan affirms that no girl will get in the way of his crew.

"I don't want a girlfriend right now" he says.  We'll see.

Random Notes from Episode Six

- White Jeep -- another new car for Ryan?
- Shane and Ryan call their mom "Gretchen" when her date shows up.  I guess "Mom" is not cool.
- Now I know why Ryan keeps wearing the New Era lids -- his hair was way out of control when he was skating in the backyard of his house.  Someone call Chris Isaak -- his hair escaped.
- Ryan definitely loves Red Bull.  Just at a glance, it looks like he has about 80 cases of the stuff in his garage -- that's about 2,000 cans.  Yummy.  Wait until he turns 21.
- Speaking of drinking, it's almost like a drinking game to see when they're going to bring in the home movies.  This time it was when Sheckler's mom was talking about dating again -- we got to see some video of her, along with the kids and Ryan's dad (calling her foxy lady and the like).
- Nixon's office visit marks the latest major sponsor to get some props on the show.  We've seen Volcom and Red Bull go above and beyond -- we still need some good Oakley love.
- Next week -- we get to see the Portland Dew Tour where Ryan came in second.
