The past, present and future of skateboarding were on hand Thursday night at the Avalon in the heart of Hollywood to attend the 9th Annual TransWorld SKATEboarding Awards, followed by a premiere of the new TW video "Let's Do This!".

Leading the way was Enjoi's Jerry Hsu, who took home two individual awards, including the Reader's Choice award, as well as one with Enjoi for the video "Bag of Suck."  Hsu and Enjoi were beat out by Girl for Best Team.

Other winners included Bob Burnquist (Best Vert), Braydon Szafranski (Best Rookie) and Mark Appleyard (who edged Hsu for Best Street Skater).

The event also served as a celebration of the 25th anniversary of TransWorld SKATEboarding, with many of the legendary skateboarders who have graced its cover invited to present.  Tony Hawk, Kevin Staab, Chad Muska, Sal Barbier, Steve Berra and Christian Hossoi were just a few of those on hand.

Lance Mountain was also there, honored with the Legend Award.  His award closed out the night and he was greeted with a standing ovation after an introductory video played and showed highlights from his long career.

"It's the best life," Mountain said of skateboarding.  His acceptance speech acknowledged people throughout his career who had helped him and the sport, including George Powell, Stacey Peralta, Ray Barbee and his fellow Bones Brigade members, as well as his own company The Firm.

He also pointed to the audience, saying "If we work together, we'll make it great for the rest of the world."

Mountain's longer acceptance speech and introduction were the exception to the rule for the night, which saw co-presenters Jason Lee and Chris Pastras (of Stereo) blaze through their introduction of each presenting duo.  Despite teams of people taking the stage for the Team and Video awards, the show clocked in at a scant 40 minutes.

Hsu, who made the trip three times to the podium, pretty much summed it up with his final visit, saying "That's it.  Thanks."

While no one stayed on stage long, several people did take a moment to remember Shane Cross, who died earlier this year.   Best rookie nominee Jake Duncombe even sported a new tattoo in his honor.

After the awards, most of the crowd stayed to watch the new TransWorld video "Let's Do This!", directed by Jon Holland and Jason Hernandez.  Featured skaters include Devine Calloway, Clint Peterson, Peter Smolik, Brian Brown and Emmanuel Guzman.

As the video wrapped up, some of the winners, including Burnquist and Hsu, made their way out, while others stayed to party at the Spider Club inside the Avalon.

The night will be one to remember for more than the winners.  For flow skater Preston Pollard from Anchorage, Alaska, this was his first TWS Awards and he just enjoyed "the whole vibe...  all the pros and the cool people that are here."
