Glifberg and Lasek Win in Bowl-A-Rama Week
Feb 29 2008 / Los Angeles, CAThe World Cup of Skateboarding had two bowl events go down on Feb. 17 and 23 in the Southern Hemisphere and when the dust settled Rune Glifberg and Bucky Lasek were smiling.
First came the Wellington, New Zealand Bowl-a-Rama, where rain pushed the inaugural event one day from Saturday to Sunday. But that didn't slow down Rune Glifberg from taking first followed by Benji Galloway and Omar Hassan.
The Masters event was held as a 30-minute jam for invited riders and Lance Mountain came out on top.

Less than a week later a larger field showed up to Bondi Beach outside Sydney, Australia, for the fourth annual Bowl-a-Rama in that location. The event's significantly larger payout didn't hurt in the draw and Bucky Lasek took first place and $10K, followed by Glifberg ($5K) and Hassan ($3K).
For more about the event, check out the write up from Dave Duncan at the World Cup of Skateboarding website.
Worth noting was a World Cup event first: five Aussies (Renton Miller, Jeff Williams, Jimmy Beck, Corbin Harris and Adam Luxford) making the top 10 in the finals, led by Miller in fourth place ahead of Galloway. Shows the kids down under are certainly stepping up.
For the Masters, Steve Caballero took the top spot, followed by Mick Mulhall and Kevin Stabb.
