Southern California is severely lacking one thing for snowboarding: snow. But it is still the home to many of the biggest snowboard companies, and every year in September, is becomes the place to be for snowboarding’s elite. It’s this time every year that all the latest shred videos are premiered in glamorous red carpet-style events.

On Wednesday, September 6th, the place to be was Foothill Ranch, the world headquarters of Oakley. The massive metal structure that is home to the optics giant is a bit hard to get to, but for those on the invite list it was certainly worth it. Authentic catered tacos, all the free Red Bull vodka’s and beer you could drink (although surprisingly little of anything else liquid), and the world premiere of Misschief Films second effort, Rosh Ambo.

Misschief is an all-girl company, who are working on shattering the stereotype that girls can’t make a good snowboard video part. Ro Sham Bo featured not only the best women’s riding that went down last season, but was packaged together with excellent editing and filming, making for a pleasurable viewing experience.

On hand for the event were riders like Gretchen Bleiler, Alexis Waite, Amber Stackhouse, Annie Boulanger and many more top women. And guys like two-time Olympic silver medalist Danny Kass was there to cheer them on as well. Roshambo’s premiere proved a perfect start to the long weekend of shred premieres to follow, and if the women’s riding was any indication, the guys’ films have some pretty big expectations to live up to.
