ASP Preps for the 2008 World Tour
Published: 2:19 a.m. PT by Me

We could have sworn this was set a while back but the ASP is putting up the "official" list of competitors for the men and women's world tour. But the list does include the alternate and unveils the new look of the profiles that will grace the website. Gone are the "headshots" of the past and now you get some good full-length shots of the athletes in street clothes (or at least somewhat). You can see an example of those below using women's champ Stephanie Gilmore, who looks a lot more grown up from last year to this...

Cinema Watch: NY Skate Documentary
Published: 2:09 a.m. PT by Me

Keep your eye out on a new documentary chronicling the history of skateboarding in New York entitled 'Deathbowl To Downtown'. Here's the official description from the film's website (thanks to Slap for the heads up on this):

Along with San Francisco and Barcelona, New York is arguably the modern street skating city, both in reality and image. Because of the unique background, experience and perspective of the film's creators and the decision to "cast" the city of New York as one of the main characters, Deathbowl to Downtown promises to be an unprecedented, seminal film.

Like Rick and Buddy's other work, Deathbowl to Downtown goes deeper than 'just' skating to combine documentary with an incisive and artful exploration of skateboarding and its culture. On one level it's about street skating, but also an anthropological overview of skating's epochal shift from the parks and pools of the 70's, to ramp skating in the 80's, to the street ascendancy of the 1990's as seen from a New York-centric perspective.

Deathbowl To Downtown Screen Shot

With interviews covering the oldest school originators to the newest school up steppers, comprehensive and much of it never-before-seen video footage, and present-day film shot by Nichols and Charnoski, 'Deathbowl to Downtown' addresses broader issues: How changes in urban planning and design affected skating (and vice versa), the unexpected late 20th century shift of cities from places normal citizens feared to tread, to tourist destinations, and the parallels between the modern history of American cities and skateboarding. That is, the way New York, and skateboarders, went from being ignored and reviled through 70's and 80's to being accepted and celebrated. An entertaining, eye opening, thought provoking take on why the action on New York's dirty, grimy, and hectic streets represents skateboarding to millions of skaters and non-skaters worldwide.

The recap features plenty of photos including shots of Daewon Song (post Arnuld impression), Erik Ellington, Jason Lee and Chris Pastras, Kevin "Spanky" Long, and plenty of others. Limited Edition Rossignol Skis
Published: 1:34 a.m. PT by Me

Ok so far we've had Puma and Adidas both release custom designed limited-edition urban bikes last year...soooo who's missing from that list of companies? Why it's the 800 Pound Gorilla that is Nike. Well you can throw that "missing" part out the door as the mega-shoe conglomerate is the latest to release (and I use the word liberally) a limited-edition fixed gear bike. This one which they are tying into their Air Force 1 display at London's Dover Street Market is custom designed and hand made by the design group Wilson Brothers. According to Hypebeast Nike will also release a documentary and ad campaign revolving around the construction of the bike, which you'll probably hear about in the near future. As for now there's just the info via Hypebeast and the pic below:

SGV On Skateboard MagRemember last week when we mentioned SGV's "Describe your haircut" moments at Girl's Open House? Well it looks like they're on a roll with their brand of hard hitting journalism as they hit up the skaters at this past weeks ASR to ask them to give their best Arnold Schwarzenegger impersonation. From out right denials (Jason Lee) to A+ effort (Daewon Song) to obscure gems (Sal Barbier) they end up getting the full spectrum of "The Last Action Hero" in yet another installment of SGV on Skateboard Mag which you can catch here.

Oh and speaking of funny video check out this hilarious stunt Plan B pro Brian Wenning pulled one cold January day.

The Latest From Black Box: More Fallen In China And Open House Night
Published: 12:59 a.m. PT by Me

Black Box has been putting out some quality stuff up on their site recently including two new entries. The first consists of more updates to Fallen's China trip updates. This time around they've added Parts 7 - 9 which feature a plethora of photos from the tail end of the first group's trip where the guys get in good with the locals, do some last minute shopping, and fly out, along with the first part of the second group's trip to China. You can check out the newest photos from Fallen's trip to China, along with all past photos, at their site here.

The second major update handed out by Black Box is footage from the Open House they held at their facilities (read: skatepark) which includes plenty of skating from their stable of skaters all in their signature black and white. Check out Black Box's Open House footage here.

• First off PJ Ladd has signed on to DC as his newest shoe sponsor. The move sound pretty logical given Ladd being on the Plan B team and all. You can check DC's Skate Team roster for confirmation.

• It was only a matter of time but according to the front page of Blind's Spring 2008 catalog Danny Cerezini is now officially a pro, which means he can now get a piece of that royalties pie. For Blind's Spring 2008 catalog click here.

• Lastly Chocolate pro Jesus Fernandez has now added Matix onto his checklist of sponsors. You can check Matix's "Coming Soon" page for Hernandez on their skate team page for further confimation.

Body of Dane Williams Discovered in Alley
Published: 6:07 p.m. PT by Me

Dane WilliamsSome sad news as the local San Diego NBC affiliate is reporting that a body found in a neighborhood alley has been positively identified as missing Hurley employee Dane Williams. As mentioned yesterday Williams was reported missing by family and friends after not having been heard from since early Saturday morning.

Williams, who is from Huntington Beach, was in San Diego for the ASR Trade Show and had been last seen out on Friday in downtown San Diego's Gaslamp district. According to the report, there has been no official word on the cause of the death yet though police have marked the scene with evidence tags and they suspect that the body was dumped in the alley overnight. An autopsy will be conducted tomorrow for more answers.

Our condolences go out to the Williams family. For more on the story check the news report here.

heath_ledgerHeath Ledger: Actor. Father... Skateboarder?
Published: 1:39 a.m. PT by Greg

We haven't posted anything about the passing of Heath Ledger because, well, it's really not relevant. Maybe when an actor dies while doing an action sport it's worth a mention (for example, actor Christopher Allport was killed while skiing this last weekend along with two others), but Ledger died of an apparent overdose, though the final cause is yet-to-be-determined.

We bring it up now because most of the eulogies for Ledger seem to mention that he was an avid skateboarder, almost sometimes in the same sentence as talking about his acting. Yes, he did play Skip Engblom, who helped create the Zephyr Surf Team and the Zephyr Skate Team (aka Z-Boys), in the film "Lords of Dogtown," but this article about what Christoper Nolan, director of "The Dark Knight," had to say, was interesting.  The film features Ledger as the joker.

Surf Updates: Fitzgibbons Wins First WQS Event of Year; Pipeline Slow to Start
Published: 1:21 a.m. PT by Greg

ASP World Junior Champion Sally Fitzgibbons, who's all of 17, won the first women's WQS event of the season last weekend by taking the Roxy Surf Festival in Phillip Island over Bruna Schmitz. World No. 8 Jessi Miley-Dyer and Bethany Hamilton finished equal-third.

The lead will be nice for Fitzgibbons, but there's a long road left to go, with 14 WQS events still to be run, with the next coming up on March 10 with the Arrive Alive Central Coast Pro.

Meanwhile, the second event of this year's men's WQS is waiting for proper conditions to kick off. The Monster Energy Pro is taking place at the Banzai Pipeline and has a holding period through Feb. 6, but it's expected to possibly go off later today.

Brian Deegan on 'Cribs'

Yeah, you heard right, FMX legend Brian Deegan is going to be on MTV's "Cribs," joining the like of Mariah Carey and, umm, I'm not sure who else because I never watch the show. Somebody said Ryan Sheckler was on there before, too.

Any way, if you're interested in seeing it airs tonight at 11 p.m. on MTV right after "Life of Ryan" and "Rob & Big." So it's certainly an action sports night on the network.

Here's how the Metal Mulisha website is pimping it. If you miss it, you can see on MTV's website.

Pastrana Hits Deer in Rally Car Race
Published: 12:19 a.m. PT by Greg

Travis Pastrana has made quite a name for himself as a rally car racer with two championships already under his belt. But even Mr. 199 wasn't a match for a deer during the Sno*Drift rally, the season opener of the 2008 Rally America National Championship Series. Pastrana and his co-driver Christian Edstrom had a huge lead near the end of the race when it happened.

"Because of the lead we built on Friday and everyone else's problems, it meant we could just sit back and relax on the final leg, which for me isn't very exciting," Pastrana said. "But on the second-to-last stage with a huge lead and just a few miles to the finish, we hit a deer at over 60 mph. It all happened so quickly, we were shocked. The car sustained heavy damage and couldn't continue. Amazingly bad luck!"

One assumes the deer also sustained heavy damage.

Anyway, also worth noting was BMX legend Dave Mirra finishing his first rally car race in 18th. DC Shoes founder Ken Block finished in fifth.

Mirra had this to say about the race, "My one goal for this rally was to just finish and get some experience. The roads were slick everywhere, and although we were not pushing hard, it was definitely a huge challenge to stay clean and out of the snow banks. This was such a good time. Now I'm really looking forward to the next rally where we'll be on gravel."

Burke took home the honor after repeating as the women's skiing Superpipe winner and LaValle won two events, Snowmobile Freestyle and Speed & Style. The Freestyle win also tied LaVallee with Shaun Palmer as the only athlete to medal in four Winter X events.

Shaun White was also in the running thanks to his record-breaking win on Sunday night, but LaVallee got the edge and, along with it, a 2008 all-new Jeep Liberty.

X Games officials have also announced the total attendance for Winter X Games 12 as 72,500 over the four days.

Torey Pudwell...Your Lord Of The Lines
Published: 12:46 a.m. PT by Me

While most of our attention might have been on Aspen this weekend for Winter X 12, there was a contest going on farther south that involved no amount of snow. We're talking about Matix's Lord Of The Lines skate contest that popped off in the midst of the ASR Trade Show in San Diego. The unique contest involves a setup that challenges its skaters to come up with the most creative line using a pre-determined set of manny pads/ledge boxes, one that will be used by every skater in the contest, hence the name of the contest. Well this year's event saw the title of Lord Of The Lines bestowed upon DVS/Matix skater (hmmmm favoritism???) Torey Pudwill who was followed by eS skater Bobby Worrest in second, and everyone's favorite Joey, Joey Brezinski, in third. The three shared a prize purse of $16,000 and bragging rights until next year. Surfing Mag Interviews 5 From "The New Crop"
Published: 12:16 a.m. PT by Me

Some might say that '07 featured the best class of emerging surfers in quite some time, what with the dominant form shown by Jordy Smith on the WQS and the appearance of the new European wonder Tiago Pires among other notable rising stars. With that in mind Surfing magazine decided to gather five such surfers, Smith, Tiago, Dayne Reynolds, Jay Thompson, and Ben Bourgeois, whom they deem as "The New Crop", and interview them to find out where their heads are at and how it got there. The group interview was originally published in print but thanks to Al Gore and Uncle Technology (brother of Father Time and Mother Nature) the internet gets a shot at an extended version of that interview. shaun_white_wxg08_200x300Shaun White Dominates Superpipe For Gold at Winter X 12
Published: 8:11 p.m. PT by Greg

Shaun White didn't qualify first in the Men's Superpipe at Winter X 12 yesterday and he was quick to remedy that injustice by coming in with a huge first run out of three, scoring a 93.00. But he didn't stop there. In heavy snow that slowed other riders, White pulled out a huge third run including a Frontside 1260, a Frontside 1080 and a Frontside 900 and Backside 900. White scored a 96.66, coming close to his record score of 97.67 set in 2003 on the Superpipe. The win also gave him his 12th overall Winter X medal and tied him with Tanner Hall as the only athletes to get Gold seven times. Also, White became the first athlete to win gold in the Superpipe three times.

Japanese sensation Ryo Aono, who did qualify first yesterday had a strong first run, scoring an 88.00, but his second run was a throwaway and his third the same. Mason Aguirre, who qualified third, was in third until Kevin Pearce took his final run, pulling an 85.66 to edge Aguirre for the Bronze.

In the beginning of the competition, snow was falling but it cleared up by the time Aguirre and the top qualifiers took their first run. However, the snow was back in the third round, just in time to affect the top six boarders. Though White and Pearce were pretty much unaffected by the snow, Aguirre, Aono and Danny Kass all seemed to have problems...For more on the Superpipe Finals check the official recap here.

January ASR Ends in San Diego
Published: 12:29 a.m. PT by Greg

With the X Games going on it's easy to forget there's plenty else out there going on. One of the bigger things was the ASR show down in San Diego. It wrapped up yesterday, but we were there on Thursday and Friday to see what was going on. Check out our recap here. We have some photos, too -- from Thursday and from Friday.

Super Big Winter X Games Wrap-Up For Saturday
Published: 12:02 a.m. PT by Greg

So much stuff happened Saturday at the X Games it seemed easier to do this wrap-up for all the key points and observations. So don't read too fast, you might miss something...
  • The results are the results. You can see the big ones here but there were a lot of repeat performances to follow Gretchen Bleiler, Sarah Burke and Tanner Hall, each of whom repeated Gold in their sports on Friday. Saturday Nate Holland, Andreas Wiig, Tucker Hibbert and Jamie Anderson repeated Gold (for Holland and Hibbert it was more than just a repeat. Where's the drama? Maybe in Men's Superpipe later today...
  • Speaking of men's Superpipe, the main story should be Ryo Aono's huge runs that kept him a solid #1 going into tomorrow's finals, but what about Shaun White's interview? I don't know if the best part was the guy in the back with a special poster (see below) or White's incomprehensible "Armageddon" reference. Or maybe it was the was reporter Tina Dixon's reaction to said interview and how she quickly said "Thanks Shaun" and got the hell out of there. We would post the video but ESPN's lawyers don't like that.
  • We will post Shaun White (and Gretchen Bleiler's) Oakley commercial. It was funny and is Shaun's latest cinematic masterpiece. It's also below.
  • Speaking of which, White's broken board was the story of the Slopestyle finals. Read more here. And it didn't look it was broken on a practice run -- at least not according to the video we saw on ESPN.
  • And since we're talking about Shaun White, it seems we're not the only one. Check out this article -- no surprise that more than a few athletes are wondering why Shaun White became the face of the X Games. Actually, it was more like Gretchen Bleiler was the face of the X Games this year. Here's one more fun piece. There are plenty more out there.
  • One more article of interest. What's with Sports Illustrated posting a Winter X Games story? Okay, so it's really the AP. That's cool. It's all about Shaun. Palmer.
  • The Jumper Big Air contest was fairly entertaining. I was entertained by the "Jumper" cam and the "Jumper" presence of Rachel Bilson, who was surprised to hear the words "Rodeo" and "540" used in the same sentence. And the "Jumper" bibs. Speaking of which, have you heard of a movie named "Jumper"? Apparently it's coming out soon. I wish I could see a preview or learn more about it somewhere...
  • Here's one last thought. I am very happy I was watch SnoCross on my DVR. I couldn't get to lap 25 fast enough.

Andreas Wiig Defends His Slopestyle Snowboarding Title at Winter X Games
Published: 3:12 p.m. PT by Me

Andreas-Wiig-160x130 Andreas Wiig started off big, scoring a 92.00 in his first run, and held off competitors like Shaun White and Kevin Pearce to win the Snowboarding Slopestyle competition at the Winter X Games for the second year in a row.

White accidentally broke his board before his first run and had to use it any way. On his second run he did use a new board but was unable to cleanly land a Cab 1080 and ended up with a lower score than his initial 83.33, which was good enough for the Bronze. Pearce scored the silver with an 88.33.

White was looking for his seventh gold medal of all time at the Winter X Games, hoping to tie the mark set by Tanner Hall earlier in the Games. With the finish, White has 11 overall medals, a record, including six gold, three silver and two bronze. He still has the Superpipe finals coming up to add to his total.

Given that they've just featured the Stereo Skate team in their United Nations section, it's only natural for The Berrics to pull Stereo's bossman and resident Hollywood celebrity, Jason Lee, aside to get profiled in their Department 8 section. As mentioned before here and in The Berrics' mission statement the Department 8 section is geared towards getting fans of the site interested in things that aren't necessarily skate-related (think art), so for this interview the focus is more on the different non-skate hats Lee wears including network television actor, photographer, and budding director. Check out the Department 8 interview with Jason Lee here. While you're at it also check out the Clinical Research interview (skate related) they did with one of Stereo's best, Clint Peterson.

Epicly Later'd Teases Us With John Cardiel
Published: 12:00 a.m. PT by Me

VBS LogoYou all are probably wondering what's going on with Epicly Later'd. After putting out a steady stream of episodes, from the Emerica Wild Ride arc all the way down to the recent Daewon Song stuff, the well seemed to have dried up these past couple of weeks. But fear not as it looks like Patrick O'Dell has been busy working on a John Cardiel episode, one that looks like it'll be worth the wait. Check out the two separate Cardiel trailers O'Dell has put up on VBS here (Trailer 1) and here (Trailer 2).

28 Day Winter: A Snowboarding Narrative
Published: 12:00 a.m. PT by Me

About a week ago we linked to a couple of photo books that were worth checking out. In those cases the books were both skate-oriented and also self-published (via publishing sites on the web), this time around though we got a new photo book worth checking out that's snowboard-oriented and professionally published. The book is called "28 Day Winter: A Snowboarding Narrative" and it focuses on riders for the Burton Team on their August 2006 trip south of the equator to places like Chile and New Zealand. The photos were shot by Dean “Blotto” Gray, Jeff Curtes, and Adam Moran, and of course feature some amazing shots (check below for just one example) which you can preview over at the book's official site here.

eS' "Gnarliest! Slams! Ever!"
Published: 12:00 a.m. PT by Me

Ever since Jake Brown took his amazingly well-publicized slam at last year's X Games people all over the skate world have had to re-evaluate their list of greatest slams ever (c'mon we all know you've got one in your mind). And that's just the case with eS who have recently released their "Gnarliest! Slams! Ever!" list where surprise, surpise Jake Brown took first. The best part of the list? 5 of the 6 links have Youtube links...making it a list you're probably gonna wanna see. The worst part of the list? Heath's slam wasn't higher...but then again it isn't like this list is scientific or anything. Check out eS favorite slams here.

Fallen Gets Far-ther East
Published: 12:00 a.m. PT by Me

A little while ago we mentioned how the Fallen Team was over in the Far East (China to be exact) taking advantage of the country's numerous skate spots (and possibly its women too). At that time they had posted 3 separate galleries of photos from their trip thus far...well now they've added two more galleries and these are from the heart of China (aka not Hong Kong/Shanghai). You can check all the black and white mischief from China (including the first 3 galleries) here.

Shaun White Renews His Vows With Burton
Published: 1:50 a.m. PT by Me

Last week it was Marc Frank Montoya making power moves by signing with the Technine Snowboard team, re-upping with DVS and, starting his own Sound Clothing label. Well this week it's Shaun White's turn to do the boardroom thing. Earlier we mentioned how White had dropped Volcom as a sponsor and expanded his deal with Target to produce a clothing line (which looks like it'll make him some Tony Hawk-type dough), now it White has decided to re-up with his main sponsor, Burton Snowboards. The deal will have Shaun repping Burton for an additional 10 years (a deal that is purported to be the longest deal in snowboarding history), while Burton in turn will help White greatly expand his hardgoods/outerwear collection, The White Collection (the Target deal was for casual wear). In speaking about the deal Shaun had this to say about his long-time sponsor, "I started riding for Burton when I was seven years old and Jake's support has always been there. We have some big plans for The White Collection and I can't think of a better home for me for the future. Thanks again, Jake!"

For more on the deal including details on The White Collection's expansion check out the announcement here.

Possible Spoiler For "Rob & Big"?
Published: 1:22 a.m. PT by Me

Last week we kinda dropped you a little spoiler for "Life Of Ryan", now it's "Rob & Big's" turn as the dynamic duo dropped in on the Jimmy Kimmel Show the other day and revealed a bit of information that might reveal what's to come for the show. Given that we don't wanna accidentally spill the beans to those who don't wanna know it's best for you to just make the choice yourself and by checking out the clip. Again this might be a SPOILER:

Quiksilver Revolution 2.0 Webcast Live
Published: 1:00 a.m. PT by Me

Some of you might roll your eyes everytime we mention international events that happen on the other side of the globe (as opposed to say Canada), mainly because you wouldn't be able to catch them. But in certain instances technology is on our side in the form of webcasts, like say for this Quiksilver Revolution 2.0 surf, skate and musical extravaganza taking place at Sunway Lagoon, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Friday night 11pm PST. The whole demo, featuring the likes of Ry Craike, Troy Brooks, Josh Kerr, Dylan Graves and Wayan 'Betet' Merta on surfboards, and Sascha Mueller, Renton Millar, Jocke' Olsen, Jurgen Howarth and Trevor Ward on skateboards, will be webcast at www.quiksilver.com/revolution2 so check it out if you're itchin' to see what's happening in Asia.

Go Skateboarding Day Version 2008
Published: 12:43 a.m. PT by Me

Off the strength of this past year's Go Skateboarding Day in which millions of skaters around the world participated in hundreds if not thousands of mini-events geared towards getting people out and skating, the International Association of Skateboard Companies (IASC) has announced that this year's Go Skateboarding Day (the 5th incarnation) will once again take place on June 21st, the first day of Summer. Beyond the usual spontaneous events that Go Skateboarding Day sparks this year's version will feature the release of a series of collectible GSD posters, the first of which will be released by Toy Machine and will feature art from Toy Machine's head honcho himself, Ed Templeton (check the pic). Given that this year June 21st falls on a Saturday you're probably looking at one of the wildest GSD's since its inception with tons more events planned throughout the world (as if last year's events weren't numerous themselves). For more info on Go Skateboarding Day 2008 including links to the official GSD sites check the link here.

The Rebirth Of City Stars Skateboards
Published: 12:22 a.m. PT by Me

Some of you might remember City Stars Skateboards as the company Kareem Campbell started up after leaving the World family. Together with his Axion footwear brand it seemed as though Kareem was slowly building an empire of his own through City Stars, but both ventures gradually crumbled and the only thing left were continuous rumors about the rebirth of City Stars. Well this time around screw the rumor mill because it's been confirmed that City Stars is on the rise again with a new partner in Finesse Skateboards, a distribution deal through Pure Distribution, and even a new line of decks ready to ship out (see the pic below). The City Stars goods should be available soon, for more info on the new City Stars line check the Pure Distribution catalog here.

How The Skaters Do Their Hair
Published: 12:11 a.m. PT by Me

The guys at SGV like to mess around with skaters every now-and-then for their Q&A's, like when they asked the skaters attending the Fully Flared premiere what they were wearing. This time around it's no different as they in conjunction with Skateboard Mag stopped by the Girl's Open House to ask all the attendees "How do you describe your haircut?" Check out the serious answers (Scott Johnson?) and the not so serious answers (Chris Casey) here.

Stephen Murray Update: Rehabbing With The Best
Published: 4:01 p.m. PT by Me

We got this update from Jeff Murray, Stephen's father, about some of the progress Stephen has made over in Baltimore:

Happy New Year everybody----- from Stephen in Baltimore----- and all of the Murray Family. 2008 has got to be a year of successful physical therapy, resulting in regaining some use full physical movements of some limbs. Everything is now set up to achieve results and here we are in Baltimore at the start of some very special treatments in The International Spinal Cord Injury Center of The Kennedy Krieger Institute. This is run by the world renowned neurologist Dr. John McDonald, who has spent a great many years researching spinal cord injuries and who spent 3 years helping Superman actor Christopher Reeves regain some functions.

He is a guy who truly believes that NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE and is dialed in to Stephen big time. The pair of them are totally dedicated to regaining movement, so as long as Stephen can keep himself well medically, I am sure that they will succeed. Stephen spent Christmas and New Year at their new [to them] home in Riverside with his wife Melissa, sons Seth, 5, and Mason, 2, but after 4 weeks in a home environment, Stephen and Melissa flew to the East coast of America to begin a 6 week program with Dr. John McDonald in Baltimore. Unfortunately , the long flight and everything that it entailed, resulted in Stephen having the most chronic neck pain, and after 4 days was admitted to E.R. with Pneumonia and a bladder infection. 3 days and nights in hospital again for Stephen-----felt lousy but out he came for 3 days before being admitted again for another day due to dehydration and the follow on effects of the Pneumonia and bladder infection.

I [Stephens dad Jeff] feel we may have turned the corner and got Stephen into a better medical condition, well enough to hammer away at a concentrated pattern of physical therapy, consisting of electrical stimulation of nerves and muscles as well as his 2 therapists physically moving limbs. It is such a treat to seeing Stephen working out again, enjoying physical movements, designed to getting him moving his body parts himself .

Stephen without doubt, is making progress and as such we have increased his stay in Baltimore by a week to make up for the week wasted in Hospital I am due to fly back to the U.K. this Sunday [27 Jan.] but his mam Cynthia is due out in Baltimore Saturday, February 9th for a week with Stephen and I know she will be truly amazed at actually seeing Stephen in action going through his physical therapy routines. As ever we are staying strong for Stephen and know that there is no option------all of you continue to play your own parts in different ways and it is truly appreciated by all of the Murray Family.

WE WILL GET THERE !
JEFF MURRAY

Stereo On BerricsThe Berrics Hits Us With The Stereo Team Footage

As promised The Berrics have finally released their "United Nations" feature on one of the most original/stylish skate companies out there, Stereo Skateboards. The clip features the full Stereo arsenal as amateurs like Zach Wagner and Tony Silva get their tricks in with the team's pros such as Clint Peterson and Daniel Shimizu and even the OGs Chris Pastras and Jason Lee (he probably has lots of time off thanks to the Writer's strike). What's worth note is how the 2+ minute features every nook and cranny of the Berra/Koston wonderland getting put to use. As with all Berrics clip it's definitely one worth checking out, which you can do at United Nations department here.

Ryan Sheckler, Danny Way, Tim Curran As A Side-Order At The ASR
Published: 1:23 a.m. PT by Me

Though the business side of the ASR is a major part of the gathering, there is always stuff on the side worth checking out while in San Diego for the trade show and this weekend's version of the ASR is no different. Two such "side orders" to the ASR include the long awaited premiere of Rip Curl's 'Lightning Strikes...The Movie' which details Mick Fannings long and winding road to the ASP World Title. The premiere will take place 4pm this Friday, Jan. 25 at the ASR booth in the convention center. Later on that night you can catch the second event worth mentioning, the 1st Annual Momoo Benefit / Live Auction which will feature both a musical performance by surfer/musician Tim Curran and also Escalera (Danny Way and Bob Burnquist's band), and an autograph signing featuring Way, Burnquist, Ryan Sheckler, Rob Dyrdek, and Damien Hobgood. The star-studded event will take place at the La Paloma Theatre in Encinitas (a short drive from San Diego) with doors opening at 7pm Friday night. Published: 1:11 a.m. PT by Me

We got more coverage in from the Marc Johnson Skater Of The Year party held in San Francisco last week...and they're good because they come straight from the source, Thrasher Magazine. Given that it was Thrasher throwing the party you know they had all the access they needed to take these pics and the results: plenty of girl pics, plenty of "skaters attending" pics, and most importantly plenty of pics of the man of the hour Marc Johnson. The gallery kinda speaks for itself, check it out at Thrasher's site here.

Burton Sets Up Shop On iTunes
Published: 12:09 a.m. PT by Me

Being both a powerhouse and an innovator in the industry it's only natural for Burton to seize upon any opportunity to advance in terms of technology, and their latest step is just that as Burton has launched it's Burton Studios on iTunes. The venture is just another step for Burton in its quest to make its video content more readily available for it's audience (as well as another way to find a new revenue stream). With Burton Studios the company will now offer their videos along with their own "TV Shows" for download via the program I'm pretty sure almost 95% of you kids have for a fee of $1.99. As of now Burton is only offering their latest video "Thanks In Advance" and episodes of their newest show, Terje's Season Pass (also airing on FUEL TV) up on the Studio page, but I'm willing to bet they're gonna start loading that thing with a lot more stuff once the money starts pouring in. You can access Burton Studios via the link here or in the "TV Shows" section of iTunes. For more info on Burton Studios including more info on the two items up for download check the official announcement here.
