It's fun to frame the action with something in the foreground because it
makes the image more dynamic.

I love using scenic backdrops so this was one of those perfect sunsets that
accentuated Dustin Miller's cliffhanger. This was on a shoot for DC shoes.

That was one of the most nerve wracking photos I have ever taken. I was
confident that he was going to pull it off but it was also such a huge risk.
I was shooting the photo and couldn't even enjoy watching it because the
shutter was going so fast. I shot it with a fish eye lense and that captured
the whole atmosphere and gave it room to breath.

It's hard to catch, but this is one of those great candid moments on the Gumball Rally (http://www.gumball3000.com/) with BMXer Mike Escamia. He wanted a serious photo of this little boy and he thought it was the funniest thing and he looked back at his friends and was laughing. It was one of those cool spontaneous reactions and those are some of my favorite photos when you can capture that of BMXer Mike Escamia. He wanted a serious photo of this little boy and he thought it was the funniest thing and he looked back at his friends and was laughing.

One of my all time favorite moto photos I have taken--a super clean shot of
the original freestyle trick in moto that will never die. I shot this during
the filming of Cary Hart's documentary. He was one of the first guys I met
in the moto scene and filmed. He asked me to be his shadow when he was doing
his film so I got to go to Gravity Games with him when he first did the
backflip. And this was in Las Vegas when I was shooting a few stills that
day.

This is Tony Hawk doing a demo on Tavarua Island in Fiji. I was there for
his wedding and ended up shooting a bunch of photos. That is the chief of
the Island on the far right hand side of the photo. What else can I say
about this photo. It was cool that he was doing a demo for the little kids.

This is a classic representation of my original work and my passion for
skateboarding. This is at Mike McGill skate park in Carlsbad, CA. Jason
Jessee was always this mysterious hardcore skater that would show up
occasionally and bustout. Look closely and you can see that the tattoo on
his arm is of his Dad.

One of my favorite all time lifestyle photos. This is in Spain at a famous
bull arena. This is the pinnacle moment of the documentary I did on Nate
Adams. He made this amazing come back from having his femur broken and
then he won a major competition after being on his bike for only two weeks.
I liked the light in the background and it gave it some flashy appeal. I was
shooting photo and video here and it paid off.

Here I am at the nationals for shifter car racing in Norman, Oklahoma. This was a fun photo take because I was panning really fast and low to the ground while holding the camera, which was inches from his tire. He was going super fast through a corner.

I shot this self-portrait in Victoria Falls in Zambia, Africa. It was one of
the most magical places I have ever been. It represents to so much to me as
far as feeling a connection to nature. This place feels like the edge of the
earth for me.

This was one of the coolest trips I have ever done. I was at a freestyle sno
mo demo in the Red Square. It was called the Red Bull Revolution. It was
truly just that. It was the fall of the communist party and east meets the
west. It took this guy two years to pull it off and this was during
practice. This really amazing rider Justin Hoyer pulled a KOD (kiss of
death) in front of the St. Needles cathedral. The composition was really
cool how he was doing his trick with the building right there. It was a
perfect shot for the Sledneck guys to run as a cover.

Tavarua Island in the foreground. My friend Dan Warbrick and another
photographer and I went out in a helicopter and shot some great aerial shots of the Islands. It was showing the vast ocean surrounding a chain of
beautiful little Islands. It's cool how it's a heart shaped Island.

This girl was a bad ass. Here I'm at the lingerie bowl at the LA Coliseum.
These girls were playing full contact football in half helmets and knee-pads. This was a post game portrait that I felt was kind of cool because it captured the toughness of these beautiful chicks.

Travis Pastrana is one of my all time favorite subjects. This is his winning run at the Red Bull X fighters in Spain a few weeks ago. He's doing a lazy boy backflip. Travis always has a high level of energy and just has so much flair.

This is just a cool angle where I got underneath and shot up at Jeff
McKitterick at Kirkwood ski area in California. With the right angle and the
right lense, it's cool to see what you can do. I liked the trail of snow I
could get here. It really accentuated the air he was doing.

One day I was in downtown Madrid and I got caught up with watching these people who sit covered in mud and collect tips. They sit there without moving for a long period of time. When they hear someone drop a coin then they reach for your hand and bring it to their face. They are performing, not begging. It's really an art. I saw one woman sit for a solid hour and she was so still. When someone would drop a coin she would do a hand motion of gratitude. In this image the man has put out his hand toward someone who tipped him. A lot of people wouldn't take it, but this woman did.
