At the 2005 ASP Banquet, Andy Irons finished runner-up to Slater, but still managed half a smile. The pretty girl is the Face of Foster's Kasia Zachwieja and the pretty boy is Bruce Irons, brother of Andy.

Irons grew up on the North Shore of Kauai, one of the few places in the United States that has the kind of gnarly reefbreak barrels that Irons would encounter on the pro tour. He is as comfortable in a backside barrel as Slater, but he faltered a bit at Teahupoo this year, finishing 5th in Tahiti and 9th in Fiji.
