Special Bonus Episode of Fuel TV's "Drive Presented by Jeep®" Featuring Mike Vallely

Building on their successful relationship, Jeep® and FUEL TV collaborated with filmmaker Mark Jeremias and pro skateboarder/poet/musician Mike Vallely to create a special bonus eighth episode of “Drive presented by Jeep®” that will be telecast on Friday, June 15 at 8pm ET/PT during its Skate @ 8 programming block. In the bonus episode, unsuspecting teen Shawn “Tyler” Fingerle drives away in a new 2007 Jeep Wrangler X 2-door. “I wanted to do something special with ‘Drive’ and proposed the idea of producing a bonus episode where we would give a Jeep vehicle to someone who Mike felt deserved it. Mike loved the idea and immediately suggested Tyler as the perfect recipient. After hearing Tyler’s story I absolutely agreed,” said Shon Tomlin, Vice President, Programming and Development, FUEL TV.

Mike Vallely Fuel“’Drive presented by Jeep’ does a great job of showcasing the Jeep lifestyle and the goanywhere / do-anything capability of Jeep vehicles,” said Jay Kuhnie, Director, Jeep Communications. “We couldn’t be happier that Shawn Fingerle gets to experience both with the all-new 2007 Jeep Wrangler X.” The episode was shot on location in Churabusco, Indiana on April 27, 2007, capturing an ecstatic Fingerle, stunned to receive such a generous gift. In September 2006, the 16-year-old escaped death when he and his friend were in a serious car accident. Fingerle’s friend who was driving at the time and a man trying to help the teens, both lost their lives when they came into contact with a downed power line. The doctors told Tyler that his Element skate shoes saved his life because the skate shoe soles are made with more rubber than regular shoes. Since the accident, Tyler has undergone numerous surgeries and ultimately has lost a foot. Through Vallely’s skate shoe sponsor Element, Mike V. was introduced to Tyler Fingerle and his story. The two began communicating via email and Tyler’s family stayed in touch with Mike as well, helping Tyler to overcome the tragedy both mentally and physically. “Having Mike come to Churubusco really helped me see that good can come out of a tragic
situation. He raised my spirits and made me feel better about myself. But even more awesome was the affect Mike had on my friends. I think he raised the spirits of many of my friends who were affected by the accident,” said Fingerle about the experience. “It was unbelievable that Mike came to my town to hang out with me and my friends. Mike giving me the Jeep was beyond unbelievable. It took Mike’s visit to a whole different level. Mike’s visit was cool enough but I have to say….. I LOVE THE JEEP! Mike’s visit and the gift of the Jeep Wrangler X was the greatest thing that has ever happened to me, ever!”

“When Shon and Jeep proposed the giveaway to me I knew right away that Tyler was the kid I wanted to give the vehicle to and I couldn't have made a better choice. Spending time with Tyler, his friends and his family in Churabusco was a truly meaningful experience for me. Seeing Tyler's smile and then the reactions of his family and friends when I gave him the key to his new Jeep Wrangler X is something I will never forget. It made me proud to be affiliated with
Jeep and FUEL TV in this way,” said Vallely. Last summer in a multi-faceted advertising deal, Jeep became the presenting sponsor of season two of “Drive” featuring Mike V. The deal called for the creation of 24 two-minute vignettes for inclusion in FUEL TV original series “The Daily Habit” and other programming; the Jeep brand’s first official sponsorship of the recent Mike V. Rebel Music Tour; and sponsorship of Vallely’s Do or Die Tour, a ten-city road-show kicking off Monday, June 4. The second season of “Drive presented by Jeep®” features Mike V. traveling to the Holy City of Jerusalem, the Cayman Islands and throughout the Southern United States visiting with skaters from the hurricane-affected city of New Orleans. Known for his outspoken, honest interaction with kids and their parents, Mike Vallely travels across the US and internationally exploring the people, places and issues defining skateboarding and youth culture today. Based on the award-winning documentary film of the same name, “Drive” is a production of Build Worldwide. Mark Jeremias is series creator and director.
