Filmmaker Profile: Joe G.

Jan 19 2007 / Los Angeles, CA

After a long stint as Head of Production for the legendary indie surf production company Poor Specimen in San Diego where he played a ton of ping pong and produced award winning surf and skate movies like "Momentum: Under the Influence", and "Hallowed Ground", Joe G moved to Hollywood and entered the world of commercial production.  He paid his dues and worked his way into various production management roles on Music Videos for Alien Ant Farm, Avril Lavigne, 311, and many others.

It was at this time that Joe realized that being on the "production side" of mainstream music video production totally sucks, so he jumped at the chance to help create a surf film for Globe International when they came calling in 2002.  The film he made, "Somewhere anywhere Everywhere", was nominated at X-Dance for "Core Film of the Year", The Surfer Poll Awards for "Best Film", and won X-Dance for "Best Editing".

Joe then signed on at Globe International as Head of Film and Video Production with an emphasis on the creative development and production of new projects.  While there, he's been a Producer on skate films like "Almost Round 3" starring Daewon Song and Rodney Mullen and Blind's "What If?".  He also Directed assorted commercial campaigns for Globe before taking the helm as Director and Producer of "Secret Machine", his largest and most widely successful project to date.

Joe G also writes a music column called "Sounds Unlimited" for Stab Magazine featuring the best new music from up and coming or underground bands.  He also fears that the US government is conspiring to control and ultimately destroy the entire world.
