Regardless of whether you’re an FMX fan or not, Jeremy “Twitch” Stenberg’s gnarly slam at the Louisville Dew Tour event in June sent shivers down everyone’s spine.  Breaking several bones in his leg on his second run in the FMX Finals, Stenberg was sidelined for the next few months and unfortunately was not able to compete in X Games 12.  With Twitch healing up, a major piece of the FMX puzzle is missing; which eases the competition for this week in LA and opens up the possibilities for many of the other riders.  With that being said, let’s take a look at the big names competing in Los Angeles this week and what we can expect for the FMX rankings.

The FMX heavyweights that stand out the most on the X Games roster are undoubtedly Nate Adams, Cowboy Kenny Bartram and Travis Pastrana.  With all three of them having great years so far and solid practice sessions during the last few days, all of the elements are in place for these guys to kill it and they will surely have their A-games dialed.  From Bartram’s 57 career IFMA wins to Adams’ deadly backflip to no-handed lander to Pastrana’s three X Games golds already under his belt, they are clearly the most experienced of the pack and have the best chance of winning it all.

Ronnie Renner, Ailo Gaup, Adam Jones and Metal Mulisha badboy Ronnie Faisst also have sick bags of tricks and tons of creativity in their runs, but they lack the solid rap sheets that Adams, Bartram and Pastrana possess and have yet to prove themselves in front of the X Games crowd.  And while an upset is always possible, the chances of it happening are slim to none unless Pastrana and Bartram happen to get injured competing in Rally Car Racing or some divine force happens to intervene at the zero hour.

All in all, the FMX competition at X Games 12 will be interesting to say the least.  With an insane course groomed to perfection, perfect LA weather and all of the elements perfectly in place, we are sure to see the hottest FMX action to date with runs that will surely be remembered well into the future.
