Hurley's Pool Rules Art Show Dates: 12/6 Location:Honolulu, HI Official Site: http://www.hurley.com/art/ Sport: Skateboarding, Art Details: Hurley is bringing its well-known “Pool Rules” exhibit to Honolulu, Hawaii on December 6th, 2007. A part of Hurley’s signature “Against The Grain” artist series, “Pool Rules” celebrates the underground subculture of skateboarders who will do anything to skate a backyard pool. From crashing abandoned houses and draining swimming pools, to jumping fences and forcing natural disasters, “Pool Rules” showcases the inspiration behind and passion for pool skating. Hurley’s “Pool Rules” gathers some of the world’s finest skateboard legends from the last four decades and applauds their creative contribution to the sport and its culture. The show will feature photos, paintings and pool skating memorabilia from over 20 artists, two of which include skate icons and Oahu locals, Shogo Kubo and Jef Hartsel. One of the original Z-boys, Kubo is considered a pioneer of the sport and one of the first skaters of Asian descent to make an impact on professional and vertical skateboarding. He is regarded among the most exciting skaters of his era, and recently collaborated with Nike Inc. on a limited edition skate shoe. Hartsel spent years as a pro skateboarder and graphic artist, and has worked with a variety of brands throughout his career, including Alva Skates, Vans, Hawaiian Island Creations, and Jimmy'z.
