Vegas will be a perfect back drop for the parties leading up to and after MTV's biggest event of the year. After a long-term relationship with New York and flings with Miami and Los Angeles, the MTV Video Music Awards are dancing with lady Vegas this year. The 2007 MTV Video Music Awards will air live from the Palms Casino Resort on September 9. And apparently this year's show will stick to the Sin City adage that what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas — breaking with tradition, the show will air once, and only once. After the show's lone airing, viewers will have a chance to customize the show and build their own versions of the VMAs across multiple platforms. Details about VMA customization — as well as nominees, performers and presenters — are expected in the coming weeks. The VMA party is also expanding into a weekend-long Vegas throwdown. MTV is planning several days of performances, appearances and events leading up to the VMA broadcast on Sunday, September 9. The VMA ceremony is sprawling as well, spreading out beyond the Pearl Concert Theater (which will house the bulk of the show) to include performances throughout the Palms. After a two-year run in Miami, the VMAs returned to their longtime home of New York last year.
