2007 Surfers' Hall of Fame Dates: 7/27 Location:Huntington Beach, CA Official Site: http://hsssurf.com/hall/ Sport: Surf Details: The 2007 Surfers’ Hall of Fame inductees are Sofia Mulanovich, Al Merrick, Bruce Irons and Martin Potter. The 10th annual ceremony takes place on Friday, July 27 at 10:00 AM in front of Huntington Surf & Sport (corner of PCH and Main Sts.). Former world surfing champions Shaun Tomson and Lisa Andersen along with Volcom President/CEO Richard “Wooly” Woolcott are among the special guests who will share their insights on 2007 Surfers’ Hall of Fame inductees. Tomson, the 1977 world champion and 2003 Hall of Fame inductee will speak about shaper extraordinaire Al Merrick and 1989 world champion Martin Potter. Woolcott, a former competitive surfer and now corporate mogul, will talk about Pipeline charger Bruce Irons. Andersen, a four-time world champ from 1994 to 1997 and 2002 inductee, will address everyone about 2004 world champion Sofia Mulanovich. Due to the stature of its honorees, this open-to-the-public event typically draws the “who’s who” of the surfing world with past, present and future stars in attendance. Styled after the famed Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, the 2007 inductees join superstars and legends from several eras including Laird Hamilton, Mike Doyle, Jack O’Neill, Robert August, Greg Noll, Jericho Poppler, Kelly Slater, Layne Beachley and Rob Machado who are already immortalized in cement through handprints, footprints and signatures.
