Adam Jones Flies to Dew Tour Win in Portland

NATE ADAMS NO LONGER UNDEFEATED AS ADAM JONES TAKES THE WIN AT THE AST DEW TOUR VANS® INVITATIONAL, THE THIRD EVENT OF THE 2007 SEASON
Freestyle motocross star Nate Adams stepped down from his post as the undefeated AST Dew Tour leader when Adam Jones secured the lead to win the Vans Invitational event Sunday evening.
Jones, 23, of Minden, Nev. earned a 91.17 on his first run and sealed his victory. Adams was unable to best Jones in his final run of the evening, placing second with a score of 90.83. Third place went to Mike Mason, 25, of Carson City, Nev, who scored 89.57.
"I am really excited," Jones said. "It's cool to win and prove that X Games wasn't just a fluke."
Jones placed first in X Games 13 held earlier this month.
"I didn't have a lot of pressure to come out here and win," Jones said. "It's not all about winning for me as long as I know I gave the best run."
Jones was 96 points behind Adams going into this event, and this win shortened the gap to 71 points.
The four-day event drew a total of 53,592 spectators to Portland's Rose Quarter for the 2007 Vans Invitational.
The four-day competition is the third of five stops of the AST Dew Tour that features skateboarding, BMX and freestyle motocross. The AST Dew Tour will visit Salt Lake City in September and the finale will be held in Orlando, Fla. in October.
