Stephen Murray

Stephen Murray, a native of Worcester England, has been one of the most feared competitors in the world of dirt jumping.

On June 22, 2007, Stephen was badly injured in a crash at the Panasonic Open in Baltimore MD. It was the first stop of the 2007 AST Dew Tour. Stephen landed on his head/neck and crushed several vertebrae -- he is still undergoing treatment and his long-term prognosis is not know. Check our update page for the latest information.

Stephen grew up racing and went on to be a seven-time expert British champion and six-time National champion before the age of 16.

In the summer of 2001 at the ESPN X Games in Philadelphia, PA, Stephen won his first X Games gold medal. Stephen was brought up riding in a good environment which is why he cites his biggest influences as his friends and family. These influences, along with Stephen's own motivation, have helped him blend a riding style of smooth and calculated but full throttle and giving 110 percent.

Stephen is also featured in the Guinness Book of World Records – he holds the record for a jump of 5.55 meters done in Leipzig, Germany. Just a few of Stephen’s accomplishments are enough to warrant a few fans. One of these fans is pro dirt jump legend Fuzzy Hall. Fuzzy is a huge Stephen Murray fan and has said Stephen is the true gladiator of the sport and he is a great role model for kids to look up to.

Stephen now lives in Corona, CA.
