Jamie Bestwick

When it comes to BMX vert riding, no one rides as smooth, goes as high or is as consistent as Jamie Bestwick. The high-flying Brit moved from Derby, UK to Central, Pennsylvania in 1999, to be close to Woodward Camp. Jamie had already made a name for himself in the UK, and had made his presence felt on American soil, but his move to America was his first step towards dominance.

At the start of 2000, the only people who had claimed X Games gold in BMX vert were Dave Mirra and Mat Hoffman. When X Games 6 rolled around, Jamie Bestwick decided to alter the course of history, and took the gold. Since then, Bestwick has become an almost unstoppable powerhouse on the vert ramp, and showed total dominance, rarely finishing out of the top spot. In 2003, Jamie unveiled his signature trick, his downside tailwhip flair, and since then has added a downside double tailwhip flair to his arsenal.

Outside of bike riding Jamie is a published photographer. His photos have appeared in numerous BMX magazines including Ride BMX, Ride UK, Dig, and Sophisticated Rider.

In 2005 Jamie and his wife Kerry, who is a Yoga/Pilates instructor, had their first son, Samuel. They bought a home back in the UK, and are currently splitting time between the US and the UK.
