Chad Kagy
Chad Kagy is a rider that can do it all. In the mid to late 90s Chad became known for his skills on the dirt as well asthe park course. Part of the legendary San Jose ramp club crew, Chad honed his skills alongside other X Games gold medalists like Joey Garcia and Ryan Nyquist. Chad’s fearless and determined approach brings out huge tricks every time he steps foot on a bike. Chad is an innovator, and was one of the first riders consistently throwing down backflip tailwhips and double backflips. In 2004 Chad broke his neck when he over rotated a double backflip during practice at the Gravity Games. A painful surgery and long recovery left Chad wondering what his future would be. With the support of good friend Kevin Robinson, Chad began to focus his skills more on a new area: the vert ramp. Kagy quickly began to translate his huge tricks onto the bigger transitions, and in 2005 was well on his way to being a top contender. 2006, however, was where Chad really made vert riders respect his name. With added height and huge new tricks like his double tailwhip flat-spin, Kagy sent himself into contention for top contest placings. At X Games 12 Kagy did the impossible, beating the unbeatable Jamie Bestwick, and won the gold medal in BMX Vert.
Today Kagy is one of the pioneers of BMX on the Mega Ramp. He currently lives in State College, PA with his wife Tiffany, and continues to push BMX on a daily basis with good friends and vert heavy-hitters Kevin Robinson, Tom Stober, John Parker and Keith McElhinney.
