Arby's Action Sports Awards: Fashion Wrap Up
Dec 10 2006 / Los Angeles, CA
If you were to say that athletes don't care about their fashion choices, I will tell you that is a bunch of malarkey! I knew for a fact that walking into this red carpet event that a good 50% of the athletes and at least 90% of celebrities didn’t just blindly stumble into their closet and pull something out. What are they regular people or something? I
think not!
So I put on my best Joan Rivers face (minus all of the plastic surgery) and asked the athletes and celebrities at the very first Arby’s Action Sports Awards… “So, who are you wearing tonight?”

Steve-O was mismatched in true Jackass fashion at the awards with a G-Unit letter jacket and an adorable beaded necklace made by his 4- year old niece. Something tells me the family ties helped him relax away his pre-show jitters for those scary and stupid stunts he pulled.

Dave Mirra was dressed for the unusually cold California weather with a layered DC striped sweater over a classic button down and of course the staple to every wardrobe... jeans. Nothing overly stylish there until you look at his hands, his custom made Mirra Co. double finger ring was sure to rake in some compliments (got one from me if that counts for anything).
Jereme Rogers (Skate)
Nominated for the Skater of the Year award and if there was such a category Best Dressed of the Night; Jereme Rogers’ style factor was through the roof. Blinged out like only a true super star athlete could, he was definitely one of the top attention grabbers of the night but not without the help of his supporter and fellow skater Terry Kennedy (both pictured below).

It was a wonder Terry Kennedy could keep his head up, seeing that his neck was weighed down by some severe bling. As a matter of fact, there was nothing on Kennedy that wasn’t an attention bright and shiny. From his multi colored duds, to the blue and yellow grill in his mouth- Terry Kennedy was shining bright at the Arby’s Action Sports Awards.
And ladies if you were ever considering a grill of your own take it from Terry “Girls are always sexy with a bottom set”

Another fashion homerun of the evening, Twitch (center), who had the casual yet fabulous look nailed. Mixing designer staples (black True Religion jeans) with classic pieces (black sweater vest, and a tie) and of course an action sports star must have (black cap) Twitch answered the question that was probably plauging people days before the event..." What the hell do you wear to a red carpet event about action sports?" Next year just call Twitch.
The self proclaimed dork was clearly not the epitome of high fashion for the night, but his personality more than made up for his plaid shirt with pink buttons- oh excuse me purple buttons. But if you ask Travis he would have been much more comfortable in a simple tee shirts and jeans. However, there was one signature item he just couldn’t leave at home…his Red Bull hat.

In spite of his huge and intimidating stature- Andrew Dice Clay was a total people magnet. Almost always with shades and unlit cigarette in his mouth; he wore the hell out a custom made leather and as he put it “some sort of hair” jacket. Just be warned if the Dice Man and his jacket woo you in like it did to me, be ready to be the butt of his and Tom Greens jokes. I know, it’s all in good fun boys…well played.

Dennis Rodman looked just like what you might expect, a hot mess! His wild homegrown look was quite an attention getter. A hodgepodge combination of too much glitter, home-made bellbottoms, and the appearance of not giving a damn; was just plain scary when you got up close. When asked about his glittery “hat” (which the term bonnet is much more fitting), he casually replied
“What? This old thing”
Yeah Dennis that old thing indeed.
Big doesn’t let his large frame keep him away from high style. Rockin’ the red framed aviator glasses indoors, and just enough bling… I must say Big was looking mighty fine. I grabbed a quick interview with Big and he definitely had me laughing (read the interview here)

Brian Deegan (FMX)
Don’t mess with his fun
Deegan from the Metal Militia always makes sure he has a good time, whether it is him acting as the life of the party or having fun with fashion. Like his pal Twitch- he mixed up some fancy schmancy designer duds (Armani top, True Religion Jeans, and $500 steel toe boots)with some action sports gear (VonZipper belt buckle); he was looking super cool.
