One of the most memorable quotes in the 1992 Plan B, Questionable Video was, “I make more money than you. I guarantee it.” If you can recall that quote was made by the pie throwing, wet behind the ears and much younger Danny Way to some lady passerby who discriminated skaters. Not that money meant everything to me back then, but that quote was one of the few facts I had to convince my DAD to keep allowing me to skate instead of focus on WATER POLO.
Fast forward to today, I’m not exactly a pro skater, but I have developed into the biggest FANBOY in the world so you won’t be surprised to know that I’m on 90% of the pro skaters’ Twitters, Facebooks, and Instagrams. I follow these guys more than PEREZ follows donuts. And you know what I’m noticing more and more as I sit there on my computer for hours on end scrolling through hundreds of tweets, posts, and photos? I’m noticing that these guys really do make more than that lady discriminating against skateboarders. Not all, but many. Events like Street League have a lot to do with it.
