Flopping is as much apart of professional sports as fanny packs are to RAIDER NATION.  If you don’t know what flopping is, it’s an art.  It’s a way to get underneath your opponents skin.  It’s the ultimate act in professional sports that gets the approval of non-sportsman figures such as John Kerry and Mitt Romney.  Flopping is an international football and basketball term for a player who throws themselves on the ground whenever they feel a defender on their back to try and get a foul called.  This is a commonly used practice in the Mexican, South American, and many European soccer leagues as well as rampant usage around the NBA.

Chris Bosh who is the RINGO STARR of the Miami Heat’s “Super Team” isn’t particularly the most prominent flopper in the NBA (that honor goes to Derrick Fisher of my favorite team, the Lakers), but we will just pick on him because he looks like the PREDATOR.  Plus he plays with my favorite player to hate, LECHOKE.  The video below showcases a perfect example of what a flopper is.  Chris goes way beyond the call of duty in the video below with the foul already called on his opponent with an unnecessary act that would make even JUSTIN GUARINI proud.

This next video features my all time favorite football (real football) player Zinedine Zidane head butting Italian national Marco Materazzi during the World Cup.  I really don’t know if the contact constituted a real knock down or an authentic flop, but it is worth noting that Materazzi is known for his steady supply of flopping.  You be the judge.

And finally, this last video features the ultimate flopper in sports, Floyd Mayweather.  He doesn’t exactly flop while fighting, but his entire career is a flop considering it is littered with flopping KO’S, floppy sucker punches, and floppy match ups (and accuses others of fighting leftovers while he clearly does the same).  He’s not really a good role model for children since he beats women and burns MONEY, but he is fun to poke fun at.  Take a listen and enjoy.

Now for some real athletes.  Skateboarders.  Skaters don’t flop.  When they get knocked around by some cement, metal poles and OFFICER RIVIERI, they get back up.  They get back up like Danny Way who has broken practically every bone in his body.  That’s why he is worthy of having a documentary made about his skate career and life.  WAITING FOR LIGHTNING will be premiering at this year’s SXSW Festival and it’s sure to be awesome.  Check out the FACEBOOK page to follow the film.
