I’m convinced that there are plenty of non-sponsored skaters out there who are a lot more skillful than some of the pros.  I was kicking it in Santa Monica this past weekend catching some awesome UV RAYS from the hot sun when I came across the Santa Monica public skate park. Just kickin it outside with a couple of tacos and a couple of hot BABES gave me the pleasure to witness excellent skateboarding galore.  And I thought to myself, there’s no way that these kids wouldn’t have been pros back in the 90’s.  They’re just too good and consistent.

Well with so many good skaters out there nowadays, you’ve got to have that extra something that keeps you ahead of the crowd.  And with the countless sponsor me videos flooding the Internet, it’s hard to keep up with who is relevant.  Leave it up to the good folks at Maloof to help those undiscovered skateboarders who need to make a name for themselves.  It’s not enough for  the local skate shop to slap their photo on the walls.  They need to get that exposure they deserve.

A new skate park on RFK Stadium festival grounds will host the world’s best professional skateboarders at the inaugural Maloof Money Cup D.C. on Sept.3-4, and I wanted to share this video recently posted on vitaminwater’s uncapped website, which details vitaminwater’s amateur competition for a “golden ticket” into the pro skate contest.

The video was shot at the Maloof Money Cup in NYC earlier this summer and features former winners of the golden ticket. Local D.C. skaters will have the same opportunity to win a spot in the competition during the VITAMINWATER AM competition on September 3.
