All of my close friends and family know that I’m a huge cinephile. I watch all movies that come out. Even the semi-crappy ones like REVENGE OF THE NINJA and CROSSROADS are big favorites of mine. And when I’m feeling a little sassy, I put in some HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL and dance my way to happiness. Then I have an equal yet complete different obsession with another fascination of mine. Anyone who knows me has seen my obsession with candy. I’m into anything chewy, colorful, artificial, and fruity. I’m not really into the chocolate, nutty, variation. It has to be 95% made in a lab. That is why I was thrilled to learn that Spike Jonze did a Twizzler commercial.
Spike is definitely one of my favorite living American directors today. I think it is safe to say that he got me into skating with his Sonic Youth video for 100%. Back then he was just a scrawny street kid with a board and did a rad 180 off the curb in the music video.
Today, he’s still creating awesomeness on the silver screen and with where he began his humble career as a skate photographer. Check out his latest spot for LAKAI, which has nothing to do with candy. But it’s pretty trippy.
