You’ve got to be one special person to have an entire day dedicated to you.  Some people who have been the most influential to our society don’t even have a day dedicated to them.  The likes of CLAY AIKEN and ANTON APOLLO ONO, don’t even have their own days even though I think that they are two well deserving candidates for having their own days.  But despite how much greatness there is in the world today, there simply are not enough days to honor every single relevant person in the world.  But it’s a good thing the skateboard community can take the time to recognize the greatness of someone like Harold Hunter and dedicate a day specifically for him.

Why is Harold so influential?  Not only is he one of the OG’s to come out of the NYC SKATE SCENE, he made us laugh, like no other.  I don’t know how many of my friends still reenact his “Brick, brick”, scene from KIDS.  But like they say, “Legends Never Die”.

The Harold Hunter Classic will go down Sunday, April 18th at 4PM at Seward Park High School, Gymnasium.  NYC’s skateboard community will gather for a day of skating.  In addition, skaters will be able to show their non skating skills in a huge game of dodge ball.  Skaters are great at dodging balls.  Plus there will be a skate contest of some sort.  Money donated at the event will support the Harold Hunter Foundation’s mission of providing young people with valuable life experiences and opportunities for personal and professional growth by encouraging and sponsoring their interest in skateboarding.
