Better, bigger, stronger and faster are just some of the words to describe the progression of women’s snowboarding for the new decade of 2010.  The sixth annual Roxy Chicken Jam presented by Rockstar Energy Drink arrived to Mammoth Mountain ski resort with a potent variety of international, high energy, professional women snowboarders.  The Slopestyle course was as massive as ever for all the ladies, with the three 2010 Winter X Game podium riders battling it out for the $15,000.00 first place check.  US rider Jamie Anderson took home the win as she stomped all of her 540s (backside, switch and cab) while crowd favorite and past Big Bear, California snowboard veteran Janna Meyen-Weatherby stomped an almost perfect run that included a mix of some solid 7s with her famous, “off the toes” style.  Great Britain’s Jenny Jones landed herself with a third place finish as she continued to show the judges a nice blend of power tricks.  Canadian Raewyn Reid earned herself the $1,500.00 Zumiez Best Trick for Slopestyle as she conquered the rail section with her super chilled style that included a nice 50/50 to a refreshing backside 180.

In the Superpipe, our own 2010 US Olympic Silver medalist Kelly Clark dominated the show and took home her own first place $15,000.00 check with her Guarana sized 900s (which also won her the $1,500.00 Zumiez best trick for Superpipe) followed by gigantic Gingko flavored 720s.  Missing from the herbal mix Superpipe roster were 2010 Olympic Gold Medalist Torah Bright and Silver Medalist Hannah Teter which allowed Japan’s Rana Okada to shake up some lofty Ginseng airs which boosted her on the podium in second.  Hawaiian native and 2010 Olympian Elena Hight settled all the high energy action with a smooth 3rd place finish to conclude the Roxy Chicken Jam all women’s snowboard event which was also the final competition of the 2009/2010 Swatch TTR World Tour.

During the mountain twilight hours, the snowboard stars of the day were honored on the podium while Enni Rukajarvi from Finland was given a nice energy enhancing check for $50,000.00 for earning the most combined points for a women on the 2009/2010 Swatch TTR World Tour. The off-hill festivities continued throughout the evening hours as a free live concert in the Village at Mammoth Mountain showcased the spins of N.A.S.A and the tunes of The Bravery.   The 6th annual Roxy Chicken Jam not only brought a nice ratio supplementation of more girls to guys to the 93546 area code, but it proved to be a huge success as everyone rode and partied like true Rock Stars Mammoth style.
