I actually saw this story on the news this morning and you may have already heard, but U.S. snowboarder Kevin Pearce from Norwich, VT was injured Thursday while training on the halfpipe at Park City Mountain Resort. According to U.S. Snowboarding Medical Director Richard Quincy, Pearce was transported to the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City where he is being treated.

Pearce was practicing for the qualifiers next week when he hit his head against the lip of the halfpipe and was instantly knocked unconscious. Doctors at the University of Utah Hospital planned external ventricular drainage to relieve fluid buildup in the brain, according to Pearce’s mother, Pia.  Our condolences to Kevin’s family and we wish him a fast recovery.

Go over to THE NEW YORK TIMES for the full story.
