It never ceases to amaze me how much skateboarding has evolved through the years.  Due to the limited maneuverability of the one-sided tail skateboards of the 80’s, there definitely were a maximum number of tricks possible.  But as we got into the 90’s and into the present, the double sided tail is what really got skateboarding onto a whole new playing field.  We saw noseslides and nollies, which gave skateboarding a brand new feel.

The same can be said about skate contests.  What once was a simple platform with multiple cones strategically placed is now a multitude of massive ramps, rails, walls, and stairs catering to the best skaters in the world for the chance to win thousands of dollars.  And even those types of contests are passé.  The most popular types of contests these days go back to the simple flatground one trick contest such as the game of S.K.A.T.E., manny, and ollie contests.

But I think there’s a new contest that beats them all in creativity, participation factor, and overall EXTREME!!! In addition, this contest utilizes up to date 21st century technology.  THE FASTEST KICKFLIP CONTEST  is going down in Arizona down at the Wedge.  I have never heard of anything like this before but I can tell that this will be monumental.  I can’t even guess how fast I can kickflip.  Maybe around a whopping 5MPH.  But leave it to the wild west state to create something so fast and SASSY!
