Jason Lee Coming Back Stronger Than Ever

Some celebrities don’t know how to cope after they have a television show that gets cancelled. Sometimes it’s even worse if you’re a movie star because movies are a one shot deal and if your film goes straight to the CAR WASH bin, then you will forever be known as the quintessential B-ACTOR and the rest of your career will be full of B-movies. Television show, even if they get cancelled, can get picked up in other markets and the actors can still make residuals. It’s a big plus if the show has hit the 5 year mark because that means 100 episodes the producers can sell to the networks and that’s where the big money is.
For some actors like ASHLEE SIMPSON who had a two episode stint on the new Melrose Place, she hardly had a chance to get her feet wet so I think it’s safe to say that PETE WENTZ will have to support her for the rest of her life. And for guys like DAVID CARUSO, he attempted to make the transition onto the silver screen but failed miserably. Luckily CSI took him back and he has a pretty stable job for TV.
Luckily, skateboarding’s very own prodigal son, Jason Lee, is coming back to his roots but in a different way. As everyone who is a fan of him knows, MY NAME IS EARL was cancelled. It’s not that sad because he gained a lot out of that show. A few awards, millions of dollars, and the show reached syndication. So Jason will be making money off that show for a very long time. But that’s not the end for everyone’s favorite skater with CHOPS.
I watch a lot of UFC and during the commercial break during TUF last night; I saw a preview of ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS 2. The first one was very successful and it looks like they might be turning it into a franchise. And according to Paste Magazine, Jason is working on a project with Adult Swim where he will be hosting and directing a brand new live action skateboarding related show. I already love Adult Swim so this is just another show to ad to my growing list of shows to watch. Read about all of Jason’s new projects over at PASTE.
