ASA Entertainment Kicks off 2010 with ASA Big Air BMX Triples at Northern Illinois University

I’m not going to lie; my high school career was not one of excellence. In fact, I barely graduated; and geography was not one of my strong suits. With this been said I have no idea of where DeKalb is within the state of Illinois, in fact most of what I know about the great state of Illinois was taught to me by two men, both named John.
John Hughes is one of my favorite film makers I grew up watching his films (especially “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”, I always wanted to be Ferris but I was really Cameron).
This story is about a film made by another man named John, John Landis; the film is “The Blues Brothers”.
Here is some info from the films IMDB page:
After the release of Jake Blues from prison, he and brother Elwood go to visit the old home where they were raised by nuns. They learn the church stopped its support and will sell the place to the education authority, and the only way to keep the place open is if the $5000 tax on the property is paid within 11 days. The brothers want to help and decide to put their blues band back together and raise the the money by staging a big gig. As they set off on their “mission from god” they seem to make more enemies along the way. Will they manage to come up with the money in time?
As you can see from the clip above this film has everything going for it. It is one of the funniest movies ever made, it has great music by artists such as James Brown and Ray Charles, and the best car chases ever put on film.
In the days before CG it must have been a monumental task to shoot one of the car chases in this film and this film has like 20 of them.
For those of you that haven’t seen this film I highly recommend renting it because it is probably one of my favorites of all time.
ASA is kicking off their BMX Big Air Triples at Northern Illinois University and even though there isn’t going to be massive car crashes like in “The Blues Brothers” there is definitely going to be some action.
To learn more about the event, keep reading:
Action Sports event producer ASA Entertainment (ASA) kicks off its 2010 season with an ASA Big Air BMX Triples (Triples) event at Northern Illinois University’s (NIU) Convocation Center in DeKalb, Illinois. On March 20th, the top men in freestyle BMX will take on the challenge of the 180-foot long course consisting of a 25-foot high drop-in ramp, two 25-foot wide jumps and a course-ending quarter-pipe, all while grabbing ‘big air’ to perform their flips, flairs, whips and spins for the event title.
Athletes displaying their talents with great success at previous Triples events have included: two-time 2009 Triples event champion (Minneapolis and Orange County Fair) Ryan Guettler (Queensland, Australia), 2009 Chicago Triples event champion T.J. Ellis (Moreno Valley, California), Addison, Illinois’ Koji Kraft, and freestyle BMX stars Cory Nastazio (Flushing, New York), Rob Darden (Greenville, North Carolina) and Mike Spinner (Oceanside, New York). The head-to-head, single elimination format stretches the athletic limits of the competitors and brings the fans to the edge of their seats in suspense-filled anticipation of the outcome.
All the excitement begins Friday, March 20, at 7:30 pm. Tickets for the ASA Big Air BMX Triples go on sale this Friday, November 13, starting at 10:00 a.m. Prices ranges from $37.00 for reserved floor seats to $22.00 for upper bowl seating.
