A city getting its own special skatepark always makes for a big event. Just getting a skatepark built in your city is a task in itself. Well it used to be. Back in the day, cities were liable for any injuries that occurred on public property. So us skaters, we were forced to build our own mobile skateparks with ramps, manuel boxes, and railslides stuffed in the back of a few pickup trucks. The best part was when your friend broke your ramp and you made a bond fire out of the wood.
But ever since law passed that cities cannot be sued for injuries taking place on public property, the skateparks started popping up everywhere. Unfortunately for most of my friends and I, we had quit skating. Venice has been fortunate enough to get a brand new park that’s now all the RAVE. Everyone’s going there. Skaters, BMX’rs, photographers, CLOWNS. Now it’s time for you to be meet the OG’s of the Venice skatepark to get their perspective on. They’ve been there for a long time
