Red Bull Project X

When I was a little kid, I used to have a clubhouse. You see in the LA Suburb where I grew up we had a little creek that ran down the hill behind my house; my friends and I used to go down to the creek and catch crayfish, blow stuff up with firecrackers (in fact Mike and I almost set the hillside on fire by trying to launch a GI Joe into the air with a bottle rocket), and have BB gun fights.

One day I decided I was going to build a top secret base down there; I took a bunch of discarded plywood, gnarly old tarps, and gross old sheets and made a clubhouse/ base. It was pretty awesome to have the sense of accomplishment that you get when you are a little kid and you build something. Even though it looked like something a homeless crack head would build under an overpass. I had even bigger plans for it like machine gun torrents and trap doors which I was going to start work on promptly the next day.

When I came back to it the next days it had been destroyed; no doubt it was the older kids who probably used it to smoke a joint in and then decided it would be fun to trash. My secret base was no longer, with distain in my heart I gave up on my clubhouse, but for one day I had my own hideout.

Red Bull and Shaun White have built a secret base for Shaun to practice and learn new tricks at. It is called Red Bull Project X and it is hidden in the Colorado Backcountry. In the video below The Flying Tomato gives the skee-lo on the project:

  3. I love Red Bull and they have done alot of amazing things for this industry. They took me and some friends at FSU to go winching in a german war vehicle. I talk about it a little in my blog at wakeskatetoday.com
It amazes me the things they do for their athletes as well as the regular people like me. I will never say anything negative about that company.
