Would you pay $400 for a gallon of gasoline?  I bet you just said to yourself, “Hell no!”  Well you are paying $400 per gallon of gasoline because that’s the cost of getting gasoline to our troops in the Middle East.  War isn’t cheap. President Obama has a lot on his plate and he has a huge decision ahead of him.  While General Stanley McChrystal is urging Obama to increase troop numbers in certain regions of Afghanistan, the American people seem to want to bring the troops home.  This month has been the deadliest month in Afghanistan since the war started about eight years ago and it doesn’t look like things will calm down any time soon.  With fake elections to go along with fake elected officials, it’s time for the United States to pack up and leave the wore torn country.

Here’s something that the United States along with the rest of the world needs to understand about Afghanistan.  They’re dealing with a country made up of twenty or so tribes with roots going back hundreds of years.  There is already much civil war within the country with battles that also date back hundreds of years.  Simply interjecting western standards and morals won’t change the psyche of a country that has had invasion attempts by the Greeks (failed), the Persians (failed), the Brits (failed), and the Soviets (failed).  Hasn’t history taught us anything?  The people of Afghanistan live in some of the most rugged, mountainous terrain on Earth.  They know those mountains like the back of their hands.

And what are the U.S. and Nato forces to do in Afghanistan anyway?  Osama has been out of there for years now ever since Bush Jr. and Dick left an entry way to Pakistan, where he now resides.  I think the best thing to do now is to pick up our things and leave before we lose another American soldier.

Despite all the chaos going on over there, it’s good to see some young people come together and make something out of bad situation.  Kabul now has it’s first skateable skatepark.  This is really a great and inspirational story.  Check out the story at THE AGE.
