I’m not catholic, but I love Catholic Church fiestas. I just went to one last week and let me tell you it was just magical. I had such a good time for $40 I couldn’t believe it!
The reason why I love them so much is the food, it’s like going to a buffet at all of your friend’s mom’s houses at once. You see I grew up in a very racially diverse neighborhood and I had friends of all races. Whether you consider it a good or bad thing Catholicism has spread itself all over the world as well. With all these different folks supporting the church with their food booths you get to try out some awesome food.
I’ll give you the run down of my last church fiesta adventure:
Pork Skewer (P.I. style): Sweet sauce, awesome vinegar dipping sauce. The meat was cooked perfect and wasn’t chewy or fatty, just good.
Lumpia: They are Filipino eggrolls and they are little friend bites of heaven. I ate a lot of these. Same vinegar dipping sauce.
Pastrami/Italian Sausage Sandwich: It was the ultimate colab and the inspiration for this story. It changed/shortened my life
Pancit: The only time I have better pancit was at Mike’s Mom’s house. It was succulent.
Carrot Cake: Homemade, not to sweet and scrumptious. It was great.
So that is my church fiesta experience, it was awesome; I highly recommend going and eating. Oh yeah, if you were wondering, I’m overweight.
