Vans The Vault Shop Grand Opening in Santa Monica Oct. 23-25

Mike and I like to tell stories about the “good old days of skating” (the 90’s) on this site. I have such fond memories of having to con my folks to drive me to Hollywood (actually right across the street from where Undefeated is now) to go to Shut Up and Skate to buy a pair of Plan B skate jeans and a Consolidated skate deck. It was a really great time to grow up between the birth of street skating and the re-birth of punk rock; I spent a lot of time getting hurt and listening to Face to Face.
One of my fondest memories was going to the Vans Factory Outlet in Orange and going shoes shopping. Many of you guys don’t remember this but at one time there was ONE company that made skate shoes and that one company was Vans. Your skate shoe choices were either Half Cabs or Full Cabs and for $35 you could get two pairs. The Vans Outlet was the single reason why I didn’t wear Payless Shoes in high school (my Dad was a big time cheapskate). I have probably owned close to 20 pairs of Half Cabs in my life and I just ordered a pair a couple of days ago, so my love of Van’s holds true today.
I guess Fred Segal loves Vans too, Vans is opening their first pop-up shop at Conveyor at Fred Segal, and it sounds like a hoot. Keep reading for more info on the opening:
Vans announced it will hold a grand opening Friday, October 23 through Sunday, October 25 for its first-ever pop up shop, The Vault Shop at Conveyor, in Santa Monica. The shop will feature exclusive limited edition product. Here’s the details:
