Drift fans in Socal rejoice! Formula D is coming to the Irwindale Speedway. I have been to the final round of the Formula D series 3 times already and this is going to be my 4th one and I can’t wait. If you have never been to an event, you really need to go; drifiting is really something you need to experience in person.

The sound of the cars going around the track, the smell of the tires as they smoke on the bank turn, and the sound the cars make when they loose their back bumper (someone always does).
One of the great things about going to the events is all the people-watching you can do, which there is tons of. Here is my guide to the different folks you will be seeing at the track:

Hypebeast/Hipster: This guy has shoes that he waited in line for 6 hrs in front of undefeated to pick up, he is usually but not always rocking a hundreds shirt. He also dropped about $40k into his EG civic hatchback, which makes you think he should have just bought a BMW (even though I’m totally jealous and wish I had a $40k civic).

Punk/emo hipster: Tight jeans, lots o’ tattoos, some kind of punk or metal t-shirt. This guy usually drives a 240sx and it is usually held together with zip-ties.

Grease Monkey: this guy built the $40k civic for the hypebeast and helps the punk guy keep his beater running because punk guy always bribes him with a sixer of Budweiser.

NASCAR fan: This guy hangs out at the speedway ALL THE TIME just hoping that Dale Jr, might show up to invite him to join his pit crew, he also likes beer.

Old Guy:  He is about 10 years older than everyone else, but acts 10 years younger than everyone else. Is usually lugging a kid around because it’s the only way the wife will let him out of the house. Sometimes this guy blends in because he has a baby face and won’t give up the Nike Dunks.

You can use my guide on Oct 16-17 to do some awesome people watching, and you can keep reading to get some info on the upcoming event:
