BIGAIR Preview In High-Def

It’s been a while now since I quit the world of competitive skateboarding. And it’s been just as long since I quit skateboarding in general. It was the summer of ’93 on a nasty SUMMER’S afternoon. CASL was all the rage back then and practically ANYONE could enter. Being a nervous fella, I couldn’t stand performing in front of large audiences. I say “perform” because I usually had my runs down to a T. No improvisation what so ever. Plus my lack of experience would really show if I didn’t have a solid run down.
Well on that day summer day, I was feeling quite confident. I had a couple of practice runs down perfectly. I was feeling sassy so I chose to skate to WHOOMP! by Tag Team. A pretty good skater by the name of Ron Resurrection went right before me so he gathered quite a large crowd. But I didn’t care; I felt I could do pretty well in front of them.
As I started my run and felt the chants of “Whoomp, there it is!” were busting in the background. I went up for my first trick (frontside tailslide on pyramid rail). Then before I could get up to the rail, my wheel got locked up with a tiny pebble. My wheels had skidded for a few inches until I went crashing into the side of the pyramid. I sprained my wrist and tore my tank top at the same time. My nipple was exposed. That day created the hate I would forever have for rocks and skateboards.
In this show BIG AIR Xcorps continues featuring the X sport of OFFROAD skateboarding or All Terrain Boarding and will include a video history of the adrenalized sport.
