Do you remember that feeling you would get every Saturday morning when and episode of PEE-WEE’S PLAYHOUSE would come to an and with such sad music playing in the background, Pee-Wee would say so long to everyone in the house?  And when he finally said good-bye to you, that was your cue to start crying.  Maybe that doesn’t apply to you because you were to old to watch “Pee-Wee’s Playhouse” but I’m sure it was the same feeling for you the first time you watched “The Sound Of Music” and those house slaves sang “SO LONG, FAREWELL”.  Such a tug to the heart that was.  If you don’t remember either of those, then you’re probably really young.  I’m certain this CLIP is your tear jerker.

Take it from me.  I know for a fact that is how the kids up at Windell’s are feeling right now as they are down to their last days of summer camp.  The first time I went to SUMMER CAMP, I remember the camp counselors even crying.

Session Seven at Windells is a wrap and the past week was filled bright skies over the Windells park; the perfect end to a summer up at Mount Hood. The tow rope was ridden, the jump line was lapped and the slushy snow continued to melt beneath the boards of tons of campers who were getting their last runs in before the change of seasons.

Adding to the fun of summer’s final session was the Dinosaurs Will Die Team, who ventured down to Oregon from British Columbia in order to build their Dream Feature. Sean Genovese, Jeff Keenan, Lucas Ouellette, Chris Morrison and Trevor Schy took influence from the concrete snake bowls around Vancouver, BC and created the DWD Snake Run, a banked-turn course with hips, barrels, wallrides and endless options for gapping, slashing and laybacking.

Off hill, the session was filled with pizza eating, trampoline jumping, dance partying and concrete snakerun thrashing. Silas Baxter-Neal and the Habitat skate team put on a jaw-dropping demo at camp and Darrell Mathis came by to premiere Videograss for all of the campers. Not a bad way to end the summer.

It’s been an amazing summer at Windells, but now it’s time to get ready for winter! Stay tuned to www.windells.com/blog for updates on winter sessions, Windells Academy and everything else that happens at The Funnest Place on Earth. See you next summer!
