No matter where you come from in this country, or on this planet for that matter, there’s a body of water you know that you should never touch.  It’s usually the body of water that contains the sewage not only from you city, but other surrounding cities.  For us in Los Angeles, it has to be the LA River.  Now don’t let the name fool you, it’s not actually only in LA where you can find the LA River.  It begins in the San Fernando Valley, San Gabriel Mountains and the Santa Susana Mountains, and then flows through Los Angeles.  So imagine all that waste and gunk that body of water is picking up.

I live near the LA River and I often times see people either fishing in it, or sun bathing near it, which is quite silly really since we’ve got beaches just 30 minutes away from here.  But in all my time, I’ve never seen anyone go into it, except for when there are flash floods and some poor fool thinks he can bike across it and later needs a rescue chopper.

Well Dave Boehne of INFINITY SURFBOARDS documents his SUP adventure down the Los Angeles River and charging the barrel in the Echo Park Lake! Oh yeah, and about Echo Park Lake.  That used to be the spot where MI VIDA LOCA used to hang out and there are a good dozen bodies or so in there.  This all went down in last month and he is the first to paddle in both on a SUP.
