You’ve got to be one special person to have a day dedicated to you.  Some people who have been the most influential to our society don’t even have a day dedicated to them.  Imagine if we had an ART FRY day or a BILLY RAY CYRUS day.  There wouldn’t be enough days in the year to celebrate everybody relevant.  But it’s a good thing the skateboard community can celebrate someone like Harold Hunter and dedicate a day specifically for him.

Why is Harold so influential?  Not only is he one of the OG’s to come out of NYC, he made us laugh, like no other.  I don’t know how many of my friends still reenact his “Brick, brick”, scene from KIDS.  But like they say, “Legends Never Die”.

The Harold Hunter Foundation BBQ Skate Jam will go down Sunday, July 19th at 1PM at East Side High school on 12th Street between 1st and A.  NYC’s skateboard community will gather for a day of skating and barbequing in honor of Harold — New Era “Best Trick” contest, lawn games, BBQ, raffle, and more.  Money donated at the event will support the Harold Hunter Foundation’s mission of providing young people with valuable life experiences and opportunities for personal and professional growth by encouraging and sponsoring their interest in skateboarding.
