When you hear the name Shaun White; the 1st thing you think is “oh yeah that one ginger kid.” Yes, Shaun is a ginger; but he is also a human.
There are many myths out there about ginger kids, and in Shaun’s honor, here are the truths to the rumors:
1. Ginger kids have no pigment in their bodies and there for genetically inferior to the melanin rich members of their species. (False) Shaun and other gingers like him are just like you and me, in fact Shaun is probably a better skater and rider than about 99% of the people reading this right now.
2. Since ginger kids are easily sunburned due to their lack of pigment, they are descendants of cave dwelling mutants. (False) To answer this question I will use the information I learned from Shaun’s episode of “Cribs”. Gingers live everywhere that non-gingers live; for example, Shaun lives in Southern California and hangs around with teenage girls in his hot tub.
3. Ginger kids have no souls, making them the perfect killing machines. (false) Many scholars debate whether any of us have what we would call a soul but many ginger folks are in show business: Damian Lewis, Nicole Kidman, Lindsay Lohan, Phillip Seymour-Hoffman, Ariel (lil mermaid!), Tori Amos, Queen Elizabeth I ,Gerri Halliwell, Gina G, Julia Roberts, Allyson Hannigan, Katharine Hepburn, Ewan McGregor, Elmo, and the Undertaker. Many believe that art comes from the soul, so these folks would require a soul in order to make their art.
4. If ginger kids become win gold medals in both Snowboarding and Skateboarding they can get their own clothing line at Target. (True) The answer to this is in the press release below:
haun White 4 Target will be back in stores for Fall 2009, with a similar line of men’s and boy’s T-shirts, wovens, shorts and denim, according to an announcement made by Target today. White’s new line - a continuation of the limited edition collaboration he did with the retailer last fall - will hit stores nationwide on August 15 and will be available year-round. Here’s some additional information provided by Target:
“I’m excited to continue working closely with Target on the line. We had so much fun with the limited-edition collection last fall that we had to come back again,” said Shaun. “With the new line, you can definitely see the influence that music, art, skateboarding and travel have on me and the designs we are creating.”
Trish Adams, senior vice president, Target, adds, “The Shaun White 4 Target collection brings a new element of progressive style to Target. The line is a great addition to our product offering that we’re happy to deliver to our guests year-round at very reasonable prices.”
The continuation of Shaun White 4 Target features a full range of apparel inspired by Shaun’s lifestyle and exploration of the world. The collection includes fashionable, inexpensive items with prices ranging from $7.99 for boys’ graphic tees to $34.99 for stylish young men’s jackets.
“We are enthusiastic about the return of Shaun White 4 Target. The line is an important piece of our long-standing relationship and we look forward to continuing to work with Shaun to create a strong apparel line,” said Troy Michels, Target Lifestyle Marketing.
Shaun White 4 Target debuted in fall 2008 with a limited-edition collection for boys and young men. After a successful premiere, Shaun and Target decided to continue the partnership with a line that will be available year-round. The boys’ collection will be sold in each of Target’s 1,699 stores, while the young men’s product line will be available at Target.com. This collection draws on the strong relationship between Target and Shaun, as he has been riding for the brand for more than seven years.
The Shaun White for Target collection will be available at all Target locations and online at Target.com”
