When making a music video it is good to have a point of reference: another video to inspire you. You really want this video to symbolize everything that is amazing about this fairly new genre of art; I suggest “It’s So Cold In The D” by T-Baby.
“It’s So Cold In The D” does something that videos by auteurs such as Michel Gondry and Spike Jonze, can’t. “It’s So Cold In The D” touches you through its music and images. You can feel the pain of T-Baby as she weaves a story of loss and memories through her beautiful siren’s song. The director of this achievement (who I believe could be Christopher Nolan doing a bit of a “passion project”) should be commended for his skill in being able to turn the sorrow of T-Baby’s song in to images, so we can not only feel the pain aurally but visually as well.
I hope that the entries in this contest can interject some of the passion and creativity of “It’s So Cold In the D” into with their submissions:
Action sports network FUEL TV is partnering up with Sony Music’s Legacy Recordings to give their fans an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to appear in the unique fan-created music video for Pearl Jam’s “Porch,” from their debut album Ten!
To enter, fans must submit the best action sports clip of themselves they have – skateboarding, surfing, BMX – anything goes. If it’s awesome, we want to see it. Once all the entries have been received, users will be able to vote on their favorite videos. The winners will have their clip featured in the video next to pros such as Nolan Lee, Chris Martin and Brad Harper, as well as Pearl Jam.
Fans need to go to www.FUEL.TV/pearljam to enter. Entry is closed on July 18th, so they need to get working on it!
I’d love to get the word out about the contest. This is a great chance for independent riders to get their name out there next to a bunch of major stars, and in a great video, too. Thanks!
